School Nurses' Perspectives on the Implementation of a Behavioral Health Referral Process.

Increasing youth behavioral health needs in the United States have underscored the essential role school nurses can play in mitigating them. In response, the District of Columbia Department of Health developed the Behavioral Health Referral Process (BHRP) as a standardized guide, integrating school nurses into multidisciplinary teams and improving students' access to behavioral health services. To assess the BHRP's strengths and opportunities while understanding factors that could impact its implementation, key informant interviews were conducted using the RE-AIM (Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance) framework with seven school nurses and school nurse managers working in DC schools.

This study aims to explore blue light's influence on the reconstructed human epidermis (RHE) using two complementary analytical approaches: Raman microspectroscopy and normal phase liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (NPLC/HR-MS).

Utility of doppler ultrasound in early-onset neonatal sepsis: A case-control study.

Background: Early-onset sepsis is one of the leading causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide and timely diagnosis is, therefore, of paramount importance. As there is a lack of literature regarding early alteration of the cerebral blood flow (CBF) in neonatal sepsis, our study aimed to appraise changes in the CBF velocities and Doppler indices in neonates with early-onset neonatal sepsis (EONS) and to assess its diagnostic accuracy.

Methods: A total of 99 neonates were recruited in the study; 56 neonates with EONS, and the age-matched 43 neonates without any manifestations of sepsis.

A school's commitment to promoting health extends beyond students' efforts to encompass parental involvement and must recognize the critical role of parents in enhancing overall student well-being. This study, conducted in 27 schools across Lebanon, assessed parents' awareness of their children's physical and mental health. A school health campaign involved direct medical interventions on 7184 students, followed by phone interviews with 3880 parents to compare their responses with the medical findings.

In response to the diverse health challenges faced by today's youth and their extensive time spent in schools, we conducted a school health awareness campaign aimed at prioritizing well-being and academic performance. This analytical longitudinal study, spanning 27 schools in Lebanon, aimed to assess the impact of the awareness campaign on the health knowledge and practices of 5-, 8-, and 11-year-old students throughout pre- and post-intervention testing focused on general health and healthy habits, employing 11, 14, and 15 questions tailored to 5, 8, and 11 year olds, respectively. The questions covered various aspects, including sleep, personal and dental hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, addiction, security measures, and bullying.

An 80-year-old Caucasian female with a history of rheumatoid arthritis presented with a 6-month history of progressive right upper eyelid ptosis, edema, erythema, and pain. Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Presenting as Bilateral Periorbital Edema Treated With Low-dose Radiation Therapy.

Ocular manifestations in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) have been reported in 30% to 40% of patients and may be a result of direct tissue infiltration, concomitant blood dyscrasias, or a result of therapeutic intervention. Leukemia cutis, defined as infiltration of the epidermis or dermis by neoplastic lymphocytes, is rare. Poor drug uptake by lesions in the oral cavity following systemic administration, as well as limited localized treatment modalities for oral tumors, result in poor patient quality of life and high mortality. Here, we describe a solid, dissolvable, bioadhesive alginate patch containing freeze-dried doxorubicin-loaded liposomes as a local treatment for oral tumors located on the tongue.

Bilateral dacryoadenitis as the initial presentation of ANCA-associated vasculitis in a pediatric patient.

A 14-year-old female presented with 2 weeks of progressive right eye pain, erythema, and proptosis. Examination demonstrated an enlarged palpable mass along the right superior lateral orbit and bilateral conjunctival petechiae. Of note, she was asymptomatic on the left side, and the petechiae were present only on the superior bulbar conjunctiva with eyelid eversion.

Septic Superior Ophthalmic Vein Thrombosis in a Prothrombotic Adolescent Patient.

A 14-year-old boy presented to the emergency room with 5 days of fever and periorbital edema and erythema refractory to 4 days of augmentin and clindamycin. Examination revealed normal visual acuity, mild left periorbital edema and erythema, and a (-)1 supraduction deficit, concerning for orbital cellulitis. CT imaging revealed pansinusitis, orbital cellulitis with subtle orbital fat stranding, and a dilated superior ophthalmic vein with concern for thrombosis.
