Introduction: This case report details the second described case of Whipple's disease-related thrombocytopenia in the medical literature. Whipple's disease is a rare multisystem infection caused by the actinomycete Tropheryma whipplei, first described by George Whipple in 1907. The key clinical manifestations are weight loss, diarrhoea and malabsorption, but arthralgia and endocarditis are also well described.

We report a case of B-cell chronic lymphatic leukaemia (B-CLL) complicated by constrictive pericarditis. The pericardial involvement was confirmed histologically to be leukaemic in nature. We draw attention to this complication which is amenable to surgical correction.

Bone marrow necrosis, an uncommon finding in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, has previously been regarded as a poor prognostic feature. It has been associated with difficulty in establishing the diagnosis, a low rate of remission as well as short remission duration. We report a case of bone marrow necrosis in a girl with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and good prognostic features who attained complete remission uneventfully and will discuss previous reports of this association in the literature.
