A simple grinding method using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as a capping agent is introduced to synthesize CoFeO nanoparticles. The effects of calcination temperature (ranging from 450 to 850 °C) on the structural, morphological, physical, and optical properties of the materials are investigated using various techniques, including thermogravimetric analysis/differential scanning calorimetry (TGA/DSC), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), N adsorption isotherm, ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). The presence of PVP significantly suppresses the agglomeration of the materials, resulting in a nanocrystalline size of 18 nm for a sample calcined at 650 °C, which is approximately 38% smaller than that of the sample synthesized without PVP.

Alcohols are common alkylating agents and starting materials alternative to harmful alkyl halides. In this study, a simple, benign and efficient pathway was developed to synthesize 1,3-diphenylpropan-1-ols via the β-alkylation of 1-phenylethanol with benzyl alcohols. Unlike conventional borrowing hydrogen processes in which alcohols were activated by transition-metal catalyzed dehydrogenation, in this work, t-BuONa was suggested to be a dual-role reagent, namely, both base and radical initiator, for the radical coupling of aromatic alcohols.

In this work, we introduce a novel defective analogue of the representative 6-connected zirconium-based metal-organic framework (MOF-808), by employing 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt (HBTC-SONa) as a defect inducer a mixed-linker approach. The structural integrity and different physicochemical properties were investigated by various characterization techniques, including powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and nitrogen physisorption at 77 K. Additionally, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) were employed to confirm the presence of 6.

The incorporation of extracurricular activities (ECAs) that focus on the English language is of utmost importance in higher education as it serves to improve students' interpersonal abilities and proficiency in language. The objective of this study is to ascertain the primary variables that serve as deterrents to the active engagement of university students in these activities. The results highlight notable barriers, including limited time availability and individual issues such as diminished self-assurance in social engagements and restricted competency in the English language.

Herein we report a method for affording 2-benzyl benzoxazoles from substituted styrenes and 2-nitrophenols. The success of this method relies on the use of simple reagents, namely elemental sulfur and DABCO. A combination of identical reagents was utilized for the annulation of styrenes with ,-dialkyl-3-nitroanilines to afford 2-benzyl benzothiazoles.

Valorization of pineapple peel waste is an attractive research topic because of the huge quantities of this byproduct generated from pineapple processing industries. In this study, the extract from pineapple waste was collected to produce a hydrogel-like form containing bacterial cellulose fibers with a three-dimensional structure and nanoscale diameter by the fermentation process. The bacterial cellulose suspension was subsequently activated by freeze-drying, affording lightweight aerogels as potential adsorbents in wastewater treatment, in particular the adsorptive removal of organic dyes.

This study presents a simple approach to prepare MOF-808, an ultra-stable Zr-MOF constructed from 6-connected zirconium clusters and 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylic acid, with tailored particle sizes. Varying the amount of formic acid as a modulator in the range of 200-500 equivalents results in MOF-808 materials with a crystal size from 40 nm to approximately 1000 nm. Apart from the high specific surface area, a combination of a fraction of mesopore and plenty of acidic centers on the Zr-clusters induces a better interaction with the ionic pollutants such as KCrO and anionic dyes.

The spread of drug-resistant bacteria via food has contributed to the dissemination of resistant bacteria among humans. However, the status of food contamination with resistant bacteria, particularly the quantitative level of resistant bacteria in food, has not yet been well elucidated. In this study, the abundance of colistin-resistant in meat samples was quantified to understand the origin of the contamination of meat available in local Vietnamese markets.

A simple method for coupling of anilines, acetophenones, and elemental sulfur to afford -arylthioglyoxamides has been developed. Reactions proceeded in the presence of NaSO and DMSO, thus eliminating the need for transition metals and external oxidants. Functionalities such as halogen, ester, methylthio, and heterocycle groups were compatible with the conditions.

Purpose: The dissemination of colistin-resistant bacteria harboring the colistin-resistance gene in developing countries has recently entered the spotlight as an emerging public health threat, which is attributed to the abuse of colistin use in these countries. However, the prevalence of these bacteria in developing countries has not been extensively investigated. Therefore, in the present study, we examined the prevalence of cefotaxime-resistant commensal harboring among residents of a representative Vietnamese village and assessed the characteristics of these isolates.

A Cu(OBA)(BPY) metal-organic framework was utilized as a productive heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of 3-aroylquinolines one-pot domino reactions of 2-aminobenzylalcohols with propiophenones. This Cu-MOF was considerably more active towards the one-pot domino reaction than a series of transition metal salts, as well as nano oxide and MOF-based catalysts. The MOF-based catalyst was reusable without a significant decline in catalytic efficiency.

The direct partial oxidation of methane to methanol is a challenging scientific and economical objective to expand the application of this abundant fuel gas as a major resource for one-step production of value-added chemicals. Despite substantial efforts to commercialize this synthetic route, to date no heterogeneous catalyst can selectively oxidize methane to methanol by O with an economically acceptable conversion. Cu-exchanged zeolites have been recently highlighted as one of the most promising bioinspired catalysts toward the direct production of methanol from methane under mild conditions.
