Purpose: This article aims to assess the impact of factors affecting the senses (via Sensory Marketing theory) on customer perceived quality and satisfaction when using health services in public hospitals. Based on the results, the research proposes solutions for public hospitals to improve the service experience to increase customer satisfaction in Vietnam generally and in developing countries particularly.

Design/methodology/approach: The authors used 619 respondents' non-convenient probability sampling method, focusing on objects experienced with public hospital services in Vietnam.

A retrospective study of endogenous endophthalmitis-related pyogenic liver abscess: An increasing complication in North Vietnam.

Introduction: Endogenous endophthalmitis-related pyogenic liver abscess is a rare complication of metastatic infection. In most cases, visual acuity results are often impaired, even blind, and even with aggressive treatment with topical antibiotics, the final results are unsatisfactory. The objective of this study is to retrospectively based on medical records to describe clinical features, risk factors, and visual outcomes of patients with endogenous endophthalmitis-related pyogenic liver abscesses.

Active Learning Guided Computational Discovery of Plant-Based Redoxmers for Organic Nonaqueous Redox Flow Batteries.

Organic nonaqueous redox flow batteries (O-NRFBs) are promising energy storage devices due to their scalability and reliance on sourceable materials. However, finding suitable redox-active organic molecules (redoxmers) for these batteries remains a challenge. Using plant-based compounds as precursors for these redoxmers can decrease their costs and environmental toxicity.

Comparative performance evaluation of QIAreach QuantiFERON-TB and tuberculin skin test for diagnosis of tuberculosis infection in Viet Nam.

Current WHO-recommended diagnostic tools for tuberculosis infection (TBI) have well-known limitations and viable alternatives are urgently needed. We compared the diagnostic performance and accuracy of the novel QIAreach QuantiFERON-TB assay (QIAreach; index) to the QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus assay (QFT-Plus; reference). The sample included 261 adults (≥ 18 years) recruited at community-based TB case finding events.

1 Year-follow-up of transforaminal surgical approach in the management of migrated disc herniation: a cross-sectional study.

Unlabelled: Transforaminal percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (TPELD) recently confirms its superiority compared to typical open discectomy in the treatment of very high-grade migrated disk herniation. In Vietnam, this technique has been applied in recent years; however; lack of reports and evidence.

Objectives: In this study, the authors would like to share their surgical experience and report the initial results in their center, after successfully performing TPELD for very high-grade migrated disk herniation in 40 patients.

A cross-sectional study of MIS TLIF in treatment of spondylolisthesis: initial good results from 92 Vietnamese patients.

Unlabelled: Minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion has proven effectiveness in treating spondylolisthesis, but there were few reports applying the technique from scarce resourcing developing countries. In this study, the authors report the results and share our experience of minimally invasive spinal transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion in spondylolisthesis treatment in Vietnamese patients.

Materials And Methods: In this study, the authors enroled 92 patients diagnosed with single-level, grade I or grade II lumbar spondylolisthesis from January 2019 to October 2022.

Microsurgery of large falcine meningiomas: postoperative results at 1 year: a cross-sectional study.

Unlabelled: Performing microsurgery with the support of navigation in falcine meningioma management shows significant impacts in short and middle-time follow-up, including unilaterally skull opening with smallest and nearest skin incision, lessen the surgical duration, limit blood transfusion and prevent tumours from recurrence.

Materials And Methods: Sixty-two falcine meningioma patients treated by microoperation applying neuronavigation were enroled from July 2015 to March 2017. Patients are evaluated before and 1 year after surgery according to The Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS) for comparison.

Computational Screening of Supported Metal Oxide Nanoclusters for Methane Activation: Insights into Homolytic versus Heterolytic C-H Bond Dissociation.

Since its discovery in zeolites, the [CuOCu] motif has played an important role in our understanding of selective methane activation over supported metal oxide nanoclusters. Although there are two known C-H bond dissociation mechanisms, namely, homolytic and heterolytic cleavage, most computational studies on optimizing metal oxide nanoclusters for improved methane activation reactivity have focused only on the homolytic mechanism. Background: Increased neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation and abundant NET-associated proteins are frequently found in the inflamed colon of patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) activation is essential for the generation of NET and NET-mediated pathogenesis. Magnifying Chromoendoscopy with Flexible Spectral Imaging Color Enhancement, Indigo Carmine, and Crystal Violet in Predicting the Histopathology of Colorectal Polyps: Diagnostic Value in a Scare-Setting Resource.

Background And Aims: Virtual magnifying chromoendoscopy with flexible spectral imaging color enhancement (FICE), image-enhanced endoscopy techniques, and dye-staining magnifying chromoendoscopy (with Indigo carmine and Crystal violet) have contributed to better visualization of the pit pattern and vascular structure of colorectal polyp. Therefore, magnifying chromoendoscopy is capable of predicting the histopathological results of colorectal polyp without biopsy and remains their diagnostic values over time, especially in scare-setting resources. This study compared the images of magnifying chromoendoscopy between FICE, Indigo carmine, and Crystal violet and then assessed their diagnostic values based on colorectal polyps' histopathology as a gold standard.

Post-kyphoplasty secondary vertebral compression fractures in Vietnamese patients: A single-center prospective cross-sectional study.

Background: Despite its well-known effectiveness in vertebral compression fractures (VCFs), kyphoplasty could also bring the risk of developing subsequent VCFs post-augmentation, especially at adjacent vertebrae, which has been rarely reported in Asian countries.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we performed cement augmentation on 69 vertebrae in 65 patients at the Spine Surgery Department, Viet Duc University Hospital, from June 2019 to November 2020. Cement augmentation was performed on 69 vertebrae in 65 patients.

Rare Condition of Intrathoracic Phrenic Nerve Schwannoma Successfully Treated with Uniportal Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery.

Introduction: Neurogenic tumors in the mediastinum account for approximately 20-30% of all types of mediastinal tumors in adults. This pathology is usually benign and has no or very few symptoms. Schwannoma rarely involves the phrenic nerve.

Case Report: Epidural Abscess Following Obstetric Epidural Anesthesia in Vietnam.

Epidural abscess after obstetric epidural anesthesia occurs infrequently and may result in severe morbidity. We report a clinical case of an epidural abscess in Vietnam. A 31-year-old woman who was in labor was admitted to our hospital and given epidural anesthesia indicated to relieve labor pain.

Sociodemographic Factors Associated with Request for Labor Epidural Analgesia in a Tertiary Obstetric Hospital in Vietnam.

This study is aimed at examining the sociodemographic factors associated with the utilization of labor epidural analgesia at a large obstetric and gynecology hospital in Vietnam. This was a cross-sectional study of women who underwent vaginal delivery in September 2018 at the Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. The utilization of epidural analgesia during labor was determined.

Nonintubated Uniportal Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery for Intrathoracic Diseases: Initial Results in Vietnam.

Objective: Nonintubated uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is a recent controversial procedure in many countries. Hence, the authors would like to present the experience in performing this approach and evaluate its initial results in the treatment, particularly, of intrathoracic diseases in Vietnam.

Methods: A prospective, descriptive study was conducted on 17 patients with intrathoracic diseases treated with nonintubated uniportal VATS from February to July 2019.

Successful Endoscopic Disconnection for Hypothalamic Hamartomas in a Child with Gelastic Seizures: An Unusual Case in a Resource-Scare Setting.

Although the endoscopic disconnection surgery for the hamartomas was previously shown as a safe and effective treatment strategy in eliminating gelastic epilepsy, to date, there was no convincing evidence with this procedure in the resource-scare settings. We discuss an unusual case of a 7-year-old child who suffered from pharmacoresistant gelastic seizures was surgically treated with the endoscopic disconnection of the hypothalamic hamartomas. The patient underwent endoscopic surgery through the left ventricle approach to disconnect the lesion of the hypothalamus.

Ferromagnetic Order at Room Temperature in Monolayer WSe Semiconductor via Vanadium Dopant.

Diluted magnetic semiconductors including Mn-doped GaAs are attractive for gate-controlled spintronics but Curie transition at room temperature with long-range ferromagnetic order is still debatable to date. Here, the room-temperature ferromagnetic domains with long-range order in semiconducting V-doped WSe monolayer synthesized by chemical vapor deposition are reported. Loss of vacuolar acidity results in iron-sulfur cluster defects and divergent homeostatic responses during aging in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

The loss of vacuolar/lysosomal acidity is an early event during aging that has been linked to mitochondrial dysfunction. However, it is unclear how loss of vacuolar acidity results in age-related dysfunction. Through unbiased genetic screens, we determined that increased iron uptake can suppress the mitochondrial respiratory deficiency phenotype of yeast vma mutants, which have lost vacuolar acidity due to genetic disruption of the vacuolar ATPase proton pump.
