We present the case of a 36-year-old paraplegic woman with a history of spinal cord injury who developed a generalized blistering rash, later diagnosed as bullous pemphigoid (BP). During her hospitalization, she was treated with prednisone and rituximab infusions, transitioning to maintenance therapy with topical steroids, doxycycline, and nicotinamide. A year later, she presented with concerns about a BP flare on her feet.

Despite some success with PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy, the response rate for colon cancer patients remains relatively low. This is closely related to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment mediated by tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs).

However, CORO1A is typically considered "undruggable" due to its smooth surface and complex protein-protein interactions (PPIs). Molecular glues have emerged as one of the most effective strategies to rapidly degrade such "undruggable" targets.

Background: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a chronic vascular inflammatory disease without effective medications. PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9), a serine protease from the proprotein convertase family, has recently been associated with AAA in human genome-wide association studies. However, its role in AAA is unknown.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is commonly associated with alterations in the tumor suppressor gene, resulting in upregulation of hypoxia-inducible factor pathways. Immune checkpoint inhibitors and vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors are the mainstays of systemic treatment for metastatic RCC; however, most patients encounter disease progression after the initial response. The phase 3 clinical trial LITESPARK-005-belzutifan (HIF-2α inhibitor) demonstrated improvement in progression-free survival compared with everolimus in heavily pretreated patients unselected for somatic/germline alterations (an objective response rate of 23% and a median time on therapy of 7.

We conducted a clinical trial to determine whether Baduanjin Qigong exercise would increase fine motor skills in PD patients.

Inadequate management of acute pain post-cesarean section can have far-reaching implications, adversely impacting maternal emotional well-being, daily activities, breastfeeding, and neonatal care. It may also impede maternal organ function recovery, leading to escalated opioid usage, heightened risk of postpartum depression, and the development of chronic postoperative pain.

In the present study we evaluated the hypothesis that ZEB1-induced EMT is essential for embryo implantation in vivo. Endometrial epithelium from female Kunming mice (non-pregnant, and pregnant from day 2.

ACCCC is characterized by unique clinical and histological features, demanding a precise diagnosis due to its potential for aggressive behavior and early metastases, distinct from other cutaneous tumors with clear cytoplasmic cells. We present the case of an 81-year-old male with a history of multiple non-melanoma skin cancers, who presented with a 5 mm erythematous papule on his left tragus.

Here, we screen the biased ssDNA binding sequences of DNA repair-related proteins and engineer RAD51-preferred sequences into HDR-boosting modules for ssDNA donors. Donors with these modules exhibit an augmented affinity for RAD51, thereby enhancing HDR efficiency across various genomic loci and cell types when cooperated with Cas9, nCas9, and Cas12a.

We here discovered a form of pyroptosis mediated by full-length (FL) GSDME without proteolytic cleavage. Intense ultraviolet-C irradiation-triggered DNA damage activates nuclear PARP1, leading to extensive formation of poly(ADP-ribose) (PAR) polymers.

Understanding the resistance mechanisms is crucial to uncover novel therapeutic targets to improve the efficacy of EGFR-TKI treatment. Here, integrated analysis using RNA-Seq and shRNAs metabolic screening reveals glutathione S-transferase omega 1 (GSTO1) as one of the key metabolic enzymes that is required for EGFR-TKIs resistance in lung adenocarcinoma cells.

Our study focuses on the relationship between inflammatory biomarkers and hypertension among sedentary adults in the United States, using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2009 to 2018. We categorized 24,614 participants into two groups based on their daily sedentary time: 9607 individuals in the sedentary group (≥7 h) and 15,007 in the non-sedentary group (<7 h). We found that the sedentary group had a significantly higher prevalence of hypertension than the non-sedentary group.

Aims: To exploring the efficacy and prognosis of ESD treatment poorly differentiated SESCC compared with esophagectomy.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted, the data of poorly differentiated SESCC patients who received ESD or esophagectomy from Jan 2011 to Jan 2021 were analyzed.
The aim of this meta-analysis was to investigate the relationship between the baseline systemic immune inflammatory index (SII) and prognosis in patients with NSCLC. The relation between pretreatment SII and overall survival, disease-free survival, cancer-specific survival, progression-free survival and recurrence-free survival in NSCLC patients was analyzed combined with hazard ratio and 95% CI. The results showed that high SII was significantly correlated with overall survival and progression-free survival of NSCLC patients, but not with disease-free survival, cancer-specific survival and recurrence-free survival.

Cancer metabolic reprogramming has been considered an emerging hallmark in tumorigenesis and the antitumor immune response. Like cancer cells, immune cells within the tumor microenvironment or premetastatic niche also undergo extensive metabolic reprogramming, which profoundly impacts anti-tumor immune responses. Numerous evidence has illuminated that immunosuppressive TME and the metabolites released by tumor cells, including lactic acid, Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), fatty acids (FAs), cholesterol, D-2-Hydroxyglutaric acid (2-HG), adenosine (ADO), and kynurenine (KYN) can contribute to CD8 T cell dysfunction.
