Laparoscopic Revision for Gastric Clipping: a Single Center Experience and Taiwan Database Review.

Purpose: Laparoscopic gastric clipping (LGC) is a relatively novel restrictive bariatric surgery wherein a horizontal metallic clip is applied to the gastric fundus. Its intraoperative complications or the difficulties associated with the applied gastric clip (GC) during revisional procedures have seldom been mentioned. Herein, the experience of revisional procedures after initial gastric clipping is reported.

To evaluate the significance of cellular factors in genome assembly, we generated a reporter virus carrying a tetracysteine tag in the NP gene (NP-Tc virus) and assessed the dynamics of vRNP localization with cellular components by fluorescence microscopy. At early time points, vRNP complexes were preferentially exported to the MTOC; subsequently, vRNPs associated on vesicles positive for cellular factor Rab11a and formed distinct vRNP bundles that trafficked to the plasma membrane on microtubule networks.

Background: The evidence of using JAK inhibitors among hospitalized patients with COVID-19 is conflicting. The systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to address the efficacy of Janus Kinase (JAK) Inhibitors in reducing risk of mortality among hospitalized patients with COVID-19.

Methods: Several electronic databases, including PubMed, EuropePMC, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, with relevant keywords "COVID-19″ AND ("JAK inhibitor" OR "Ruxolitinib" OR "Tofacitinib" OR "Fedratinib" OR "Baricitinib") AND ("Severe" OR "Mortality"), were used to perform a systematic literature search up to December 11, 2020.

Background: The roles of transient receptor potential cation channel, subfamily V, member 1 (TRPV1) and subfamily A, member 1 (TRPA1) in mechanisms of gastrointestinal motility are complex. Temporal Trend of ST131 Clone among Urinary Isolates in the Community: A Taiwan National Surveillance from 2002 to 2016.

Sequence type (ST) 131 is a multidrug-resistant pandemic lineage of responsible for extraintestinal infections. Few surveillance data of ST131 included all antimicrobial-susceptible and -resistant isolates or focused on community-acquired urinary tract infection (UTI). From a population-based surveillance pool of 2997 outpatient urine isolates, 542 were selected for detection of ST131 based on ciprofloxacin and/or cefotaxime resistance.

Nutrient Drinking Test as Biomarker in Functional Dyspepsia.

Introduction: Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a prevalent condition with multifactorial pathophysiology, including impaired gastric accommodation (GA), hypersensitivity to gastric distention, and delayed gastric emptying. Drink tests (DT) have been proposed as a potential biomarker for the presence and severity of gastric sensorimotor dysfunction. Thus, we aimed to summarize the state of knowledge on different DT and their potential as a biomarker for FD.

Factors affecting fecal excretion time in pediatric nontyphoid Salmonella infection.

Background: This study investigated whether the appropriate antibiotics therapy affects the fecal excretion time in pediatric salmonellosis of different severities and explored the factors associated with the fecal excretion time of nontyphoid Salmonella.

Methods: Between 2012 and 2017, admitted children with nontyphoid salmonellosis who consented to receive consecutive stool cultures every 4-7 days until 2 consecutive negative results were obtained were enrolled. Patients were stratified into no, appropriate (bacteremia or severe patients receiving antibiotics active in vitro), and inappropriate antibiotics (patients with mild or moderate severity receiving antibiotics or severe receiving antibiotics resistant in vitro) therapy groups.

Robust and efficient single-pixel image classification with nonlinear optics.

We present a hybrid image classifier by feature-sensitive image upconversion, single pixel photodetection, and deep learning, aiming at fast processing of high-resolution images. It uses partial Fourier transform to extract the images' signature features in both the original and Fourier domains, thereby significantly increasing the classification accuracy and robustness. Tested on the Modified National Institute of Standards and Technology handwritten digit images and verified by simulation, it boosts accuracy from 81.
