Center M Pilot Trial: Integrating Preventive Mental Health Care in Routine Prenatal Care.

Introduction: Perinatal depression is a leading cause of preventable US maternal morbidity and mortality. Although Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Perinatal Depression (MBCT-PD) is highly effective, it faces significant scalability challenges. Center M, a brief, group-based, mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention, is an adaptation of MBCT-PD designed to overcome these challenges.

Professional identity development of advanced practice nurses: Evaluating its integration in curricula and relevance for professional practice.

Aim: To demonstrate how students, alums and faculty view the effectiveness of the integration of university mission statements into curriculum and their significance for preparing for professional practice.

Background: This study builds on previous research exploring the influence of mission, vision and values statements in informing DNP program curricula and contributing to the development of students' professional identity by analyzing how the themes found were integrated into curricula and their perceived relevancy for practice.

Design: A mixed-methods approach was used called Group Concept Mapping, which built on the previous qualitative data found using quantitative analysis.

Epilepsy-pregnancy registries: An update.

This report is the first comprehensive update on the activities of existing epilepsy-pregnancy registries since 2010. The primary aim of these registries, which were initiated by independent international research groups some 25 years ago, has been to assess the risk of major congenital malformations (MCMs) in offspring exposed in utero to different antiseizure medications (ASMs). Progress reports are provided here from the five original registries (the International Registry of Antiepileptic Drugs and Pregnancy EURAP, the North American Antiepileptic Drug Pregnancy Registry, the UK and Ireland Epilepsy and Pregnancy Register, the Kerala Registry of Epilepsy and Pregnancy, and the Raoul Wallenberg Australian Pregnancy Register of Antiepileptic Drugs) plus the more recently initiated West China Registry.

Radiation Implication in Pediatric Second Primary Thyroid Malignancy (SPTM) Cumulative Incidence and Mortality in the United States: Large Cohort Evidence.

Objective: To assess racial and sex variances in second primary thyroid malignancy (SPTM) cumulative incidence and temporal trends and the radiation exposure effect in pediatric SPTM.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective cohort study, a non-experimental epidemiologic design, was used to assess the cumulative incidence (CmI) and temporal trends as well as the exposure effect of radiation in SPTM among children, 0-19 years, in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registry, National Cancer Institute (NCI), USA. Percent change (PC) and annual percent change (APC) were used to examine CmI rates and temporal trends, while chi-square statistics and binomial regression models were used to examine variable distribution by race and to determine the exposure effect of radiation on SPTM as well as mortality, respectively.

Collecting Real-Time Patient-Reported Outcome Data During Latent Labor: Feasibility Study of the MyCap Mobile App in Prospective Person-Centered Research.

Background: The growing emphasis on patient experience in medical research has increased the focus on patient-reported outcomes and symptom measures. However, patient-reported outcomes data are subject to recall bias, limiting reliability. Patient-reported data are most valid when reported by patients in real time; however, this type of data is difficult to collect from patients experiencing acute health events such as labor.

Functional prediction of response to therapy prior to therapeutic intervention is associated with improved survival in patients with high-grade glioma.

Patients with high-grade glioma (HGG) have an extremely poor prognosis compounded by a lack of advancement in clinical care over the past few decades. Regardless of classification, most newly diagnosed patients receive the same treatment, radiation and temozolomide (RT/TMZ). We developed a functional precision oncology test that prospectively identifies individual patient's response to this treatment regimen.

The effect of sexual orientation on voice acoustic properties.

Introduction: Previous research has investigated sexual orientation differences in the acoustic properties of individuals' voices, often theorizing that homosexuals of both sexes would have voice properties mirroring those of heterosexuals of the opposite sex. Findings were mixed, but many of these studies have methodological limitations including small sample sizes, use of recited passages instead of natural speech, or grouping bisexual and homosexual participants together for analyses.

Methods: To address these shortcomings, the present study examined a wide range of acoustic properties in the natural voices of 142 men and 175 women of varying sexual orientations, with sexual orientation treated as a continuous variable throughout.

Restorative function of offshore longline mussel farms with ecological benefits for commercial crustacean species.

Offshore ocean aquaculture is expanding globally to meet the growing demand for sustainable food production. At the United Kingdom's largest longline mussel farm, we assessed the potential for the farm to improve the habitat suitability for commercially important crustaceans. Modelled distribution patterns (GAM & GLM) predicted the low complexity seabed beneath the mussel farm was 34-94 % less suitable for European lobster (Homarus gammarus) and brown crab (Cancer pagurus) than nearby rocky reefs.

Measurement invariance of the PROMIS emotional distress and subjective well-being domains among autistic and General Population adolescents.

Purpose: Quality of life (QoL) is identified as a clinical and research priority by the autistic community. Researchers have the responsibility to ensure that instruments used to measure QoL do so reliably and accurately among autistic participants.

Methods: Our study evaluated measurement invariance of Emotional Distress (Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Psychological Stress) and Subjective Well-Being (Life Satisfaction, Positive Affect, and Meaning & Purpose) scales of the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) among groups of autistic (N=140, n per scale=132-140) and general population (N=1,224, n per scale=406-411) teenagers (14-17 years).

There are many species of Orthoptera that remain undescribed and their acoustic signals are unknown. This study aims to measure and quantify the mechanics of wing vibration, sound production and acoustic properties of the hearing system in a new genus of Pseudophyllinae with taxonomic descriptions of two new species.

Digital geographies of care: Telehealth landscapes of addiction treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created new digital health care landscapes for the management of substance use and misuse. While telehealth was prohibited for addiction treatment prior to the pandemic, the severity of COVID-19 precipitated telehealth expansion for the delivery of individual and group-based treatment. Research has highlighted benefits and challenges of telehealth; however, little is known about the impacts of telehealth on the quality, use, and effectiveness of treatment.

The illness burden of severe asthma contrasted to people with mild-to-moderate asthma: a qualitative study.

Background: Disabling symptoms of asthma including breathlessness, cough, wheeze and chest tightness largely impact quality of life; however, how these symptoms impact people with asthma of different severity levels remains unknown. This study aimed to compare and characterise patients' symptom experience and the burden caused, their quality of life, and the medication preferences of people with severe asthma against those of people with mild-to-moderate asthma.

Methods: This was a multisite qualitative study involving two focus groups and semistructured interviews of adults with severe asthma undertaken in Australia and UK.

A pilot randomised controlled trial of acceptance and commitment therapy for medication decision-making and quality of life in women with breast cancer: The ACTION trial.

Objective: Non-adherence to adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) in women with breast cancer is common and associated with medication side-effects and distress. We co-designed an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy intervention (ACTION) to enhance medication decision-making and quality of life (QoL). We undertook a pilot trial of ACTION to inform the feasibility of a phase III trial, and to examine intervention acceptability.

Exposure at conception to phenytoin (PHT), phenobarbital (PB), and carbamazepine (CBZ) has been associated with several different effects on the fetus, including hypoplasia of the distal phalanges, dysmorphic facial features, and structural abnormalities such as oral clefts and neural tube defects. One question is whether each of these antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) has the same effects or just similar effects. A systematic examination of the fingers of children exposed at conception to PHT, PB, or CBZ, as monotherapy, has been used to address this question.

Design and conduct of a randomized controlled feeding trial in a residential setting with mitigation for COVID-19.

Background: Evaluating effects of different macronutrient diets in randomized trials requires well defined infrastructure and rigorous methods to ensure intervention fidelity and adherence.

Methods: This controlled feeding study comprised two phases. During a Run-in phase (14-15 weeks), study participants (18-50 years, BMI, ≥27 kg/m) consumed a very-low-carbohydrate (VLC) diet, with home delivery of prepared meals, at an energy level to promote 15 ± 3% weight loss.

Under-five mortality before and after implementation of the Liberia National Community Health Assistant (NCHA) program: A study protocol.

Between 2018 and 2022 the Liberian Government implemented the National Community Health Assistant (NCHA) program to improve provision of maternal and child health care to underserved rural areas of the country. Whereas the contributions of this and similar community health worker (CHW) based healthcare programs have been associated with improved process measures, the impact of a governmental CHW program at scale on child mortality has not been fully established. We will conduct a cluster sampled, community-based survey with landmark event calendars to retrospectively assess child births and deaths among all children born to women in the Grand Bassa District of Liberia.

Medical Misadventures as Errors and Mistakes and Motor Vehicular Accidents in the Disproportionate Burden of Childhood Mortality among Blacks/African Americans in the United States: CDC Dataset, 1968-2015.

Purpose: Racial disparities in infant mortality in the United States persist after adjustment for known confounders of race and mortality association, as well as heterogeneity assessment. Epidemiologic and clinical data continue to show the survival disadvantages of Black/AA children: when Black/AAs are compared to whites, they are three times as likely to die from all-cause mortality. The persistent inability to remove the variance in race-mortality association is partly due to unobserved, unmeasured, and residual confounding, as well as implicit biases in public health and clinical medicine in health equity transformation.

The role of Doctor of Nursing Practice programs' mission, vision, and values statements in the development of students' professional identity: A qualitative study.

Objectives: The effectiveness of university and program mission, vision, and values statements in shaping Doctor in Nursing Practice (DNP) programs' curricula and their students' professional identity is insufficiently understood.

Design: This qualitative research project explored how these statements inform DNP program curricula and contribute to the development of the professional identity of students SETTING: Three DNP programs in the U.S.

Protocol for a scoping review to map health outcomes in individuals with inducible laryngeal obstruction.

Background: Inducible laryngeal obstruction causes narrowing of the laryngeal aperture in response to external triggers. Outcomes are measured in inducible laryngeal obstruction to monitor changes in health status over time.

Methods: This study is a scoping review based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology.
