Pregnancy-associated pulmonary embolism (PA-PE) is a life-threatening presentation however literature surrounding its optimal management is limited. This case describes a case of PA-PE treated with catheter-directed thrombolysis after clinical deterioration despite standard anticoagulation therapy. Careful multidisciplinary planning is required to successfully manage the deteriorating patient with PA-PE with catheter-directed thrombolysis being considered as potential first-line therapy in these patients.

Background: Poor outcomes from operative vaginal birth have been associated with failure to recognize malposition, breakdown in interdisciplinary communication, and deviation from accepted guidelines. We recently implemented a safety bundle including routine intrapartum ultrasound and a structured time-out and procedural checklist aiming to reduce maternal and perinatal morbidity from operative vaginal birth.

The MiniMUGA genotyping array is a popular tool for genetic QC of laboratory mice and genotyping of samples from most types of experimental crosses involving laboratory strains, particularly for reduced complexity crosses. The content of the production version of the MiniMUGA array is fixed; however, there is the opportunity to improve array's performance and the associated report's usefulness by leveraging thousands of samples genotyped since the initial description of MiniMUGA in 2020. Here we report our efforts to update and improve marker annotation, increase the number and the reliability of the consensus genotypes for inbred strains and increase the number of constructs that can reliably be detected with MiniMUGA.

We used cultured human conjunctival goblet cells to determine (i) whether the toxigenic induced activation of the epithelial goblet cells requires two signals to activate the NLRP3 inflammasome, (ii) if one signal is mediated by TLR1, TLR2, or TLR6, and (iii) if the toxin α toxin is another signal for the activation of the inflammasome and secretion of mature IL-1β. Cultured cells were incubated with siRNA to knock down the different TLRs. After stimulation with toxigenic RN6390, pro-IL-1β synthesis, caspase-1 activity, and mature IL-1β secretion were measured.

Background: Infants with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (DH) have underdeveloped lungs and require mechanical ventilation after birth, but the optimal approach is unknown. We hypothesised that sustained inflation (SI) increases lung aeration in newborn kittens with a DH.

Background: Fetoscopic laser coagulation of placental anastomoses reverses the pathological process in twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, thereby increasing survival, but there are a paucity of studies addressing long-term neurodevelopmental outcome of survivors. This study aimed to ascertain the presence of neurodevelopmental disabilities in child survivors of monochorionic pregnancies managed by placental laser photocoagulation in the Australian state of Victoria.

Introduction: This article provides a strategy by which a manufacturing process with a Biosafety Level 2 (BL2) designation can be downgraded to Biosafety Level 1 (BL1). The principles of the downgrading process are based on the robust contamination controls in clinical and commercial manufacturing, which typically are not part of Research and Development processes. These strict requirements along with the application of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) principles provide a framework by which processes can be suitably managed and controlled to mitigate biohazard risk, specifically for cell lines that may be contaminated with human pathogenic viral agents.

Annexin A1 (AnxA1) is the primary mediator of the anti-inflammatory actions of glucocorticoids. AnxA1 functions as a pro-resolving mediator in cultured rat conjunctival goblet cells to ensure tissue homeostasis through stimulation of intracellular [Ca] ([Ca]) and mucin secretion. Here we report on a case series of six women who completed a methylation-supportive diet and lifestyle program designed to impact DNA methylation and measures of biological aging. The intervention consisted of an 8-week program that included diet, sleep, exercise and relaxation guidance, supplemental probiotics and phytonutrients and nutritional coaching. DNA methylation and biological age analysis (Horvath DNAmAge clock (2013), normalized using the SeSAMe pipeline [a]) was conducted on blood samples at baseline and at the end of the 8-week period.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of offering fetal surveillance from 39 weeks to South Asian-born women on rates of stillbirth and neonatal and obstetrical interventions.
