Background: 'Big data' has great potential to help address the global health challenge of obesity. However, lack of clarity with regard to the definition of big data and frameworks for effectively using big data in the context of obesity research may be hindering progress. The aim of this study was to establish agreed approaches for the use of big data in obesity-related research.

The scanning system consisted of a two-axis micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) mirror that was incorporated within the lens. The optical system consisted of two groups of lenses and a silicon avalanche photodiode.

However, survival estimates from clinical trials may overestimate outcomes seen in clinical practice even with the adjustment for age and other key characteristics. The purpose of this study was to determine the OS of myeloma patients seen in routine clinical practice who resembled the cohort studied in the IFM 2009 trial.

The timing and prognostic impact of immune reconstitution has been studied after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, less is known about its significance in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma. We studied absolute lymphocyte (ALC) and absolute monocyte (AMC) counts at the time of treatment initiation and 1 month thereafter in 771 newly diagnosed patients.

Patrons and staff at these venues may include female sex workers, their clients, as well as others who have high rates of new sexual partnerships. Few studies have compared HIV/STI among venue-based and general populations, across types of venues, or by sub-group of the venue population.

Methods: MYB aims to recruit 8,500 non-demented community dwelling 55 to 77 year olds from the Sax Institute's 45 and Up Study in New South Wales, Australia. Participants will be screened for risk factors related to four modules that comprise the MYB intervention: physical activity, nutrition, mental health, and cognitive training.
Conventional thermal imaging cameras, based on focal-plane array (FPA) sensors, exhibit inherent problems: such as stray radiation, cross-talk and the calibration uncertainty of ensuring each pixel behaves as if it were an identical temperature sensor. Radiation thermometers can largely overcome these issues, comprising of only a single detector element that can be optimised and calibrated. Although the latter approach can provide excellent accuracy for single-point temperature measurement, it does not provide a temperature image of the target object.

We conducted a retrospective review analyzing the prognostic effect of PCPI in 306 patients with smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM). Seventy-nine (26%) patients had an elevated PCPI (>0.

Synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (SCRAs) are suggested to have increased potential to induce psychosis compared to natural cannabis (NC). In this review we synthesise current knowledge about the association of SCRA use with psychotic symptoms. Following a literature search we identified 2 toxicology reports, 4 case-control studies, 3 cross-sectional studies and 15 case reports.

This study compared methods of ascribing ethnicity and socio-economic status. Children in the Growing Up in New Zealand longitudinal cohort were ascribed to self-prioritised, total response and single-combined ethnic groups.

Methods: Low-income, infrequently screened women were recruited from the general population in North Carolina to participate in an observational study. Participants provided two self-collected cervicovaginal samples (one at home and one in the clinic) and a clinician-collected cervical sample.
Prior investigations indicate that the five core personality dimensions (the "Big Five") are measurable by middle childhood. The aim of this research was to examine the psychometric properties of a short-form self-report measure of the Big Five personality dimensions in children that would be suitable for administration online in large population-based studies. Twenty-five questionnaire items in English, derived from the 65-item Big Five Questionnaire for Children in Italian (Barbaranelli, Caprara, Rabasca, & Pastorelli, 2003), were completed online by 27,415 Australian children in Year 6 (mean age 11.

We evaluated 351 patients (2004-2016), achieving CR with first-line therapy. Patients with sustained DurCR ≥ 24 months (n = 177) had better OS; 150 vs.

Objectives: To determine whether the Dundee classification reliably identified those patients with cellulitis who had a higher mortality, a longer length of hospital stay or an increased risk of readmission.
Methods: We performed a retrospective study of all adults with a primary discharge diagnosis of cellulitis admitted to Auckland City Hospital from August 2013 to June 2015.
Background: Anxiety and depression are common during pregnancy and associated with adverse outcomes for the mother and infant if left untreated. Despite the need to improve treatment accessibility and uptake in this population, no studies have investigated internet-delivered cognitive behavioural therapy (iCBT) for antenatal anxiety and depression. In a randomised controlled trial, we examined the efficacy and acceptability of a brief, unguided iCBT intervention - the MUMentum Pregnancy program - in pregnant women with anxiety and/or depression.

We retrospectively reviewed records of patients who underwent PET-CT within 60 days of a new diagnosis (before therapy commenced) to identify the nature and prognostic impact of PET-CT abnormalities. Patients (N = 313) were seen from April 2005 through June 2017.

The majority of ERVs represent defective retroviral copies. However, for most ERVs, endogenization occurred millions of years ago, obscuring the stages by which ERVs become defective and the changes in both virus and host important to the process.

We examined whether serial difference free light chain (dFLC) levels could be used as a surrogate for serial 24-h urine M protein measurements in monitoring for PD in patients with baseline measurable urine M protein. We studied 122 patients who had serial measurement of urine M protein and serum FLC and had demonstrated PD.
