In modern fast-growing broiler chickens, meat quality becomes increasingly important due to the occurrence of novel breast myopathies such as white striping (WS), woody breast (WB), and spaghetti meat (SM), compromising the sustainability of the poultry industry. Therefore, strategies for reducing the incidence of those myopathies are needed. This study focuses on the impact of different standard ileal digestible (SID) His:Lys ratios on growth performance, meat quality variables like pH, drip loss and pale-soft-exudative (PSE) meat as well as the incidence and severity of breast myopathies (WS, WB, SM), including deep pectoral myopathies (DPM).

Background: Cancer patients' mental health and quality of life can be improved through professional support according to their needs. In previous analyses of the UNSAID study, we showed that a relevant proportion of cancer patients did not express their needs during the admission interview of inpatient rehabilitation. We now examine trajectories of mental health, quality of life, and utilization of professional help in cancer patients with unexpressed needs.

The high growth rates of modern broiler breeds increased the risk for novel breast muscle myopathies as serious quality issue, relevant for the industry. In affected muscles, a depletion of the dipeptides carnosine and anserine was reported. Therefore, this study was performed to test whether a supplementation of the precursors histidine and β-alanine, alone or in combination can increase the dipeptide content in the breast muscle and improve meat quality.

[The Impact of Health literacy on Health Outcomes in Cancer Patients Attending Inpatient Rehabilitation].

Purpose: Health literacy (HL) entails people's knowledge, motivation, and competences to access, understand, appraise, and apply health information. Lower HL is associated with poorer psychosocial health. However, there are no studies so far evaluating the impact of HL within oncological rehabilitation in Germany.

Unexpressed psychosocial needs in cancer patients at the beginning of inpatient rehabilitation: a qualitative analysis.

Objective: Cancer patients often need professional help to alleviate their psychosocial distress. However, not all patients express their needs. In this study, we explored possible barriers to patients' expressing needs, contents of needs difficult to express, and conditions facilitating expressing needs.

Objective: The admission interview in oncological inpatient rehabilitation might be a good opportunity to identify cancer patients' needs present after acute treatment. Background: High rates of venous thromboembolic events (VTEs), mainly in advanced disease, are reported for patients with cancer of the upper gastrointestinal tract (stomach, pancreas) and for treatment with cisplatin.

Methods: Exploratory analysis of VTEs reported as adverse events and serious adverse events in a prospective, randomised, multicentre, multimodal phase III trial according to VTEs reported as adverse events and severe adverse events. Patients with resectable oesophageal cancer (T2N1-3, T3-4aNx) were randomized to 2 cycles of chemotherapy with docetaxel 75 mg/m, cisplatin 75 mg/m followed by chemo-radiotherapy (CRT) and subsequent surgery (control arm) or the same treatment with addition of cetuximab (investigational arm).
