The corrosion rates of carbon steel and galvanized steel according to the ISO 9223 standard, the effect of pollutant contamination and atmospheric aggressiveness under high rainfall conditions in the Chocó department were studied. Carbon and galvanized steel samples, chloride, and sulfur collectors were exposed in three atmospheric stations in three strategic positions covering the Colombian Pacific: Quibdó, Andagoya and Bahía Solano, for different exposure periods (up to 18 months). The structural-micro characterization of corrosion products was evaluated via X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy SEM-EDS.

Gallstone ileus is an uncommon cause of mechanical bowel obstruction in patients with cholecystitis and gallstones who develop a fistula over time. In the post-cholecystectomy patient, the presence of gallstone ileus is extremely rare; these patients have different pathophysiological pathways, such as a spilled gallstone that subsequently erodes into the bowel, subtotal cholecystectomies, and diverticulae that can hold a gallstone for hidden several years. The chemical reduction within a family of organic selenocyanates, as masked selenols, using reducing agents, such as Rongalite, sodium dithionite, and sodium thiosulfate is investigated. Using Rongalite, the corresponding diselenides were obtained quantitatively and selectively in very good to excellent yields (51-100 %) starting from alkyl, aryl, and benzyl selenocyanates.
