tRNA modifications are critical for several aspects of their functions, including decoding, folding, and stability. Using a multifaceted approach encompassing eCLIP-seq and nanopore tRNA-seq, we show that the human tRNA methyltransferase TRMT1L interacts with the component of the Rix1 ribosome biogenesis complex and binds to the 28S rRNA as well as to a subset of tRNAs. Mechanistically, we demonstrate that TRMT1L is responsible for catalyzing N2,N2-dimethylguanosine (mG) solely at position 27 of tRNA-Tyr-GUA.

Background: The relationship between severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral dynamics during acute infection and the development of long coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), or "long COVID," is largely unknown.

Methods: Between October 2021 and February 2022, 7361 people not known to have COVID-19 self-collected nasal swab samples for SARS-CoV-2 reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction testing every 24-48 hours for 10-14 days. Participants whose first known SARS-CoV-2 infection was detected were surveyed for long COVID in August 2023.

[M(arene)(HQ)Cl] complexes (M = Ru/Os/Rh/Ir; HQ = 8-hydroxyquinoline) have shown promise as anticancer agents. To assess the effect of conjugating biotin (vitamin B7) to such compounds and improve their tumor-targeting ability through interaction with the sodium-dependent multivitamin transporter (SMVT), the chlorido co-ligand was exchanged with biotinylated 6-aminoindazole. Shortly after the first case of SARS-CoV-2 was diagnosed a public health emergency (PHE) was declared and a multi-agency response was initiated within the US federal government to create and propagate testing capacity. As part of this response, an unprecedented program designated Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx) Tech was established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to facilitate the development of point-of-care tests for the COVID-19. The RADx Tech Clinical Studies Core (CSC), located at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMass Chan), with partnering academic, private, and non-governmental organizations around the country, was tasked with developing clinical studies to support this work.

We present a computational model of networked neurons developed to study the effect of temperature on neuronal synchronization in the brain in association with seizures. The network consists of a set of chaotic bursting neurons surrounding a core tonic neuron in a square lattice with periodic boundary conditions. The COVID-19 pandemic had a disproportionate impact on ethnically minoritised and other marginalised communities, yet little is known about the impacts of long COVID-19 (LC) on this group. Living with LC takes its toll both physically, emotionally and financially and even more so when a diagnosis is hard to come by. By using qualitative interviews centring the view of undiagnosed and marginalised communities already classed as 'underserved' in the medical literature, we show the range of barriers and impacts faced by these groups in the UK, and the strategies of resilience they use.
