The purpose of this study is to clarify the influence of acquiring medical record information and laboratory data on the sensitivity of detecting imaging findings among Japanese radiological technologists (RTs). RTs were presented with patient's information in three distinct sequences for detecting imaging findings. True positives (TP) were identified and categorized into three groups: Group 1 (image + chief complaint), Group 2 (image + chief complaint + medical record), and Group 3 (image + chief complaint + medical record + laboratory data).

Renoprotective effects of coenzyme Q10 supplementation in patients with chronic kidney disease: a protocol for a systematic review.

Introduction: Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a fat-soluble vitamin-like quinone. The plasma levels of CoQ10 are reduced in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). CoQ10 supplementation can improve mitochondrial function and decrease oxidative stress in these patients.

Histochemical analysis of osteoclast and osteoblast distributions on hydroxyapatite/collagen bone-like nanocomposite embedded in rat tibiae.

Objectives: Hydroxyapatite (HAp)/collagen (Col) cylinders with laminated collagen layers were implanted into the tibial diaphysis of rats and examined histochemically to clarify how the orientation of HAp and Col bone-like nanocomposite fibers in HAp/Col blocks affects bone resorption and formation.

Methods: HAp/Col fibers were synthesized and compressed into cylindrical blocks to mimic bone nanostructures. These were implanted into the cortical bone cavities of 10-week-old male Wistar rats with fiber bundles parallel to the tibial surface.

Adult human skin contains nearly twice as many T cells as the peripheral blood, which include tissue-resident memory T cells. However, the precise mechanisms maintaining tissue-resident memory T cells in the healthy skin remain unclear. Using normal human skin samples, we find that Langerhans cells (LCs) contact T cells in the epidermis of the elderly.

Background And Objectives: Transient neurological deficits (TNDs) in patients with chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), such as fluctuating aphasia, hemiparesis, or sensory disturbances, present diagnostic and treatment challenges as their pathophysiology remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between specific MRI findings and TNDs in patients with CSDH and explored their relationship through intraoperative observation.

Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 72 patients with CSDH who underwent preoperative MRI among 251 CSDH patients treated from January 2020 to December 2023.

We analyzed whole-genome sequencing datasets of 6,321 Japanese individuals, including patients with autoimmune diseases (psoriasis vulgaris, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) or multiple sclerosis) and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), or healthy controls. The Japanese Society of Oral Oncology and Japanese Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons have jointly developed clinical practice guidelines for oral cancer (oral squamous cell carcinoma) to improve and standardize the quality of oral cancer treatment in Japan. The first, second, and third editions were published in 2009, 2013, and 2019, respectively, and the 2023 edition was recently developed. In the development of the 2023 edition, 60 clinical questions (CQs) were listed.

Effect of Transforming Growth Factor-β Inhibition on Ureteral and Renal Scarring in a Rat Model of Upper Urinary Tract Ablation with Irreversible Electroporation.

Objective: To determine whether adjuvant transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) inhibition with pirfenidone (PFD) can mitigate ureteral wall scarring and related complications in a rat model of upper urinary tract ablation with irreversible electroporation (IRE).

Methods: Transmural ablation of the ureter was performed with IRE in 24 rats. Post-IRE, animals were randomly assigned to receive PFD or no drug, followed by euthanasia at 2-, 5-, or 10-days.

Objective: To elucidate the mechanisms underlying diabetic osteoporosis, we conducted a comprehensive histological examination of the femora of Spontaneously Diabetic Torii-Lepr (SDT-fa/fa) rats, an established model of obesity-related type 2 diabetes.

Materials And Methods: Femora from 12 30-week-old male SDT-fa/fa rats and age-matched Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats (controls) were used for detailed histochemical analyses, including tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP), cathepsin K, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), phosphoethanolamine/ phosphocholine phosphatase 1 (PHOSPHO1), dentin matrix protein (DMP)-1, matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein (MEPE), sclerostin, osteocalcin staining, silver impregnation, von Kossa staining, and micro-computed tomography (CT).

Results: Micro-CT and hematoxylin-eosin staining demonstrated significantly reduced trabecular bone volume in the femoral metaphyses of SDT-fa/fa rats.
