Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a common symptom in adolescence, often leading to significant disruptions in daily life, such as school absences, shame caused by the stigma surrounding menstruation, and symptoms from iron deficiency. Further, HMB may be the first and/or only sign of an underlying bleeding disorder. Navigating the symptoms, effects, and treatments of HMB during adolescence requires a collaborative approach between the patient, caregivers, and healthcare providers.

Methods: Following Core Outcome Set Standards for Development Recommendations (COSSTAD), this study comprised: Stage 1 - systematic review to identify measures; Stage 2 - consensus groups to identify important outcome constructs for people with PPA (n = 82) and care partners (n = 91); Stage 3 - e-Delphi consensus with 57 researchers.

The use of metal and semimetal van der Waals contacts for 2D semiconducting devices has led to remarkable device optimizations. In comparison with conventional thin-film metal deposition, a reduction in Fermi level pinning at the contact interface for van der Waals contacts results in, generally, lower contact resistances and higher mobilities. Van der Waals contacts also lead to Schottky barriers that follow the Schottky-Mott rule, allowing barrier estimates on material properties alone.

Lead is an established neurotoxicant, and it has known associations with adverse neurodevelopmental and reproductive outcomes. Exposure to lead at any level is unsafe, and the United States (US) has enacted various federal and state legislations to regulate lead levels in drinking water in K-12 schools and childcare facilities; however, no regulations exist for higher education settings. We sought to identify appropriate cutoff values for abnormal word syllable duration (WSD) in a word repetition task, interpret them relative to a data set of people with chronic aphasia, and evaluate the extent to which manually derived measures could be approximated through an automated process that relied on commercial speech recognition technology.
Method: Fifty neurotypical participants produced 49 multisyllabic words during a repetition task.

As part of an initiative to create a National Research Blueprint for future decades of research, the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) and American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network conducted extensive all-stakeholder consultations to identify the priorities of PPM with inherited BDs and those who care for them.
Research Design And Methods: Working group (WG) 4 of the NHF State of the Science Research Summit distilled community-identified priorities for PPM with inherited BDs into concrete research questions and scored their feasibility, impact, and risk.
Purpose: During motor speech examinations for suspected apraxia of speech (AOS), clients are routinely asked to repeat words several times sequentially. The purpose of this study was to understand the task in terms of the relationship among consecutive attempts. We asked to what extent phonemic accuracy changes across trials and whether the change is predicted by AOS diagnosis and sound production severity.

Purpose: Although the importance of motivation to successful rehabilitation is frequently acknowledged in the aphasia literature, little evidence-based guidance has been provided on how to support it. The purpose of this tutorial is to introduce a well-validated theory of motivation, self-determination theory (SDT); explain its role as the foundation for the FOURC model of collaborative goal setting and treatment planning; and explain how it may be applied during rehabilitation to support the motivation of people with aphasia.
Method: We provide an overview of SDT, explore the link between motivation and psychological wellness, and discuss how psychological needs are addressed in SDT and the FOURC model.

Purpose: Behaviorally, acquired apraxia of speech (AOS) is a multidimensional syndrome that the experienced clinician recognizes based on impaired articulation and abnormal temporal prosody. We conducted this study to determine the extent to which three core features of AOS-when defined quantitatively-distinguish categorically among aphasia with no or minimal speech sound involvement, aphasia with AOS, and aphasia with phonemic paraphasia (APP).
Method: The study involved retrospective analysis of 195 participants with stroke-induced aphasia.
Background: Elevated mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) is common in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and heart failure symptoms. However, dynamic left ventricular (LV) outflow tract obstruction may confound interpretation of pulmonary hypertension (PH) pathophysiologic features in HCM when relying on resting invasive hemodynamic data alone.
Research Question: Do structural changes to the lung vasculature clarify PH pathophysiologic features in patients with HCM with progressive heart failure?
Study Design And Methods: Clinical data and ultrarare lung autopsy specimens were acquired retrospectively from the National Institutes of Health (1975-1992).
Background: This prospective observational cohort study evaluates risk-stratified venous thromboembolism (VTE) screening in injured children. While the reported incidence of VTE is 6% to 10% among critically injured children, there is no standard for screening. Objectives: This research study was carried out from November 2020 and April 2021 using the Planetary Health Report Card (PHRC) initiative to assess the current level of planetary health teaching in medical schools in the Republic of Ireland.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare the patient-reported bleeding outcomes and complication rates with the use of the 52-mg levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (52-LNG-IUS) for treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) among adolescents with and without a diagnosed inherited bleeding disorder (BD) within the first 12 months after insertion.
Methods: Retrospective chart review was conducted of adolescents ages 14-21 years, with and without an inherited BD, who underwent 52-LNG-IUS insertion between September 2013 and February 2020 for the treatment of HMB.
Results: One hundred forty-four 52-LNG-IUS insertions among 139 subjects were evaluated.
