Background: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been shown to predict psychotic symptomology. However, few studies have examined the relative contribution of PTSD compared to broader post-traumatic sequelae in maintaining psychosis. Complex PTSD (cPTSD), operationalized using ICD-11 criteria, includes core PTSD (intrusions, avoidance, hyperarousal) as well as additional "disturbances of self-organisation" (DSO; emotional dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, negative self-concept) symptoms, more likely to be associated with complex trauma histories.

Purpose: To investigate alterations in neurochemistry in high school athletes as a function of head impacts, concussion, and the use of a jugular vein compression (JVC) collar.
Study Type: Prospective controlled trial.
Due to their immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, tissue repair capabilities and regenerative potential, Wharton's jelly mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (WJMSCs) have been widely investigated as potential treatment for diverse clinical indications. WJMSCs have been found to be well-tolerated and safe, positioning them as a promising candidate for cellular therapy. To address the commercial need for manufacturing WJMSCs for clinical applications, the production scale should be capable of generating large quantities of cells that retain their expected identity, purity and potency.

Understanding the dissimilarity in genotype, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and virulence between bovine and swine ETEC is crucial for development of targeted preventive and therapeutic approaches for livestock. However, a comprehensive study on this area remains lacking.

Despite the critical role of the cerebrovascular system in maintaining whole-brain structure and function, changes in cerebral blood flow (CBF) remain incompletely understood in the disease. Here, we studied whole-brain perfusion and vascular network alterations in TLE and assessed its associations with gray and white matter compromises and various clinical variables.

In recent years, in vitro cardiac differentiation using human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) has been used to uncover the intricate gene-network regulation involved in the proper formation and function of the human heart. Here, we searched for uncharacterized cardiac-development genes by combining a temporal evaluation of human cardiac specification in vitro with an analysis of gene expression in fetal and adult heart tissue.

We tested whether forced reversal of adult cardiomyocytes back to a fetal glycolytic phenotype would restore proliferative capacity. We deleted Uqcrfs1 (mitochondrial Rieske iron-sulfur protein, RISP) in hearts of adult mice.

We previously found that infiltration of tumor inflammatory monocytes (TIMs) into lung squamous carcinoma (LUSC) tumors is associated with increased metastases and poor survival. To further understand how TIMs promote metastases, we compared RNA-Seq profiles of TIMs from several LUSC metastatic models with inflammatory monocytes (IMs) of non-tumor-bearing controls.

Enzymatic degradation of PAEs is a potential bioremedial strategy to manage contamination. Thermostable bioremedial enzymes have advantages in enzyme manufacturing and storage.

Infection with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus can cause severe lung inflammation and prolonged respiratory symptoms. We sought to determine whether SARS-CoV-2 infection modified pediatric incident asthma risk.

Methods: Fifteen females (n = 3) and males (n = 12; 27 ± 5 years, 78 ± 9 kg, O 50.
While protein activity is traditionally studied with a major focus on the active site, the activity of enzymes has been hypothesized to be linked to the flexibility of adjacent regions, warranting more exploration into how the dynamics in these regions affects catalytic turnover. One such enzyme is Xylanase A (XylA), which cleaves hemicellulose xylan polymers by hydrolysis at internal β-1,4-xylosidic linkages. It contains a "thumb" region whose flexibility has been suggested to affect the activity.

However, the heterogeneity of NS-CLBP persons has made the ability to attribute pain increase to a particular sitting posture very difficult. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare lumbosacral kinematics and their roles in pain increase among homogenous NS-CLBP subgroups and healthy controls over a 1-h sitting period.

Adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (ACP), the most common pediatric sellar/suprasellar brain tumor, poses significant treatment challenges. Recent studies suggest that senescent cells in ACP tumors may contribute to tumor growth and invasion by releasing a senesecence-associated secretory phenotype.

Highly invasive melanoma cells migrate along the vasculature and perivascular cells may contribute to residual disease and recurrence. PTEN loss and hyperactivation of AKT occur in MBM; however, a role for PTEN/AKT in perivascular invasion has not been described.

Subjects received single 400, 600, or 800 mg doses of ceftibuten on Days 1 and 4, followed by 7 days of twice-daily dosing from Days 4 to 10. Non-compartmental methods were used to describe parent drug and metabolite PK in plasma and urine.

Mutations in the scaffolding domain of gene have been identified in humans with autoinflammatory diseases like Cleavage Resistant RIPK1 Induced Autoinflammatory (CRIA) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. RIPK1 protein also contributes to conventional T cell differentiation and peripheral T cell homeostasis through its scaffolding domain in a cell death independent context.

Successfully negotiating these cluttered environments requires maneuvering through narrow constrictions between obstacles. We show that Anna's hummingbirds (Calypte anna) can negotiate apertures less than one wingspan in diameter using a novel sideways maneuver that incorporates continuous, bilaterally asymmetric wing motions.

Our objective is to screen resected FMCD specimens with mTORopathy features on histology for causal somatic variants in mTOR pathway genes, describe novel pathogenic variants, and examine the variant distribution in relation to neuroimaging, histopathologic classification, and clinical outcomes.
Methods: We performed ultra-deep sequencing using a custom HaloPlex Target Enrichment kit in DNA from 21 resected fresh-frozen histologically confirmed FCD type II, tuberous sclerosis complex, or hemimegalencephaly specimens.
Recently, several β-lactam (BL)/β-lactamase inhibitor (BLI) combinations have entered clinical testing or have been marketed for use, but limited direct comparative studies of their activity exist. Xeruborbactam (XER, also known as QPX7728), which is undergoing clinical development, is a cyclic boronate BLI with potent inhibitory activity against serine (serine β-lactamase) and metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs). The objectives of this study were (i) to compare the potency and spectrum of β-lactamase inhibition by various BLIs in biochemical assays using purified β-lactamases and in microbiological assays using the panel of laboratory strains expressing diverse serine and metallo-β-lactamases and (ii) to compare the potency of XER in combination with multiple β-lactam antibiotics to that of other BL/BLI combinations in head-to-head testing against recent isolates of carbapenem-resistant (CRE).
