Electrochemical water splitting is a promising method for the generation of "green hydrogen", a renewable and sustainable energy source. However, the complex, multistep synthesis processes, often involving hazardous or expensive chemicals, limit its broader adoption. Herein, a nitrate (NO) anion-intercalated nickel-iron-cerium mixed-metal (oxy)hydroxide heterostructure electrocatalyst is fabricated on nickel foam (NiFeCeOH@NF) via a simple electrodeposition method followed by cyclic voltammetry activation to enhance its surface properties.

Functional MRI studies have achieved promising outcomes in revealing abnormal functional connectivity in Parkinson's disease (PD). The primary sensorimotor area (PSMA) received a large amount of attention because it closely correlates with motor deficits. While functional connectivity represents signaling between PSMA and other brain regions, the metabolic mechanism behind PSMA connectivity has rarely been well established.

Programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1)-mediated immunosuppression has been proposed to contribute to the limited clinical efficacy of chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cells in solid tumors. We generated PD-1 and T cell receptor (TCR) deficient mesothelin-specific CAR-T (MPTK-CAR-T) cells using CRISPR-Cas9 technology and evaluated them in a dose-escalation study. A total of 15 patients received one or more infusions of MPTK-CAR-T cells without prior lymphodepletion.

Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is one of the major predictors and inducers of heart failure, the end stage of various cardiovascular diseases. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying pathogenesis of pathological cardiac hypertrophy remain largely unknown. Here, we provided the first evidence that STEAP3 (Six-Transmembrane Epithelial Antigen of Prostate 3) is a key negative regulator of this disease.

There is an urgent need for vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) because of the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Among all approaches, a messenger RNA (mRNA)-based vaccine has emerged as a rapid and versatile platform to quickly respond to this challenge. Here, we developed a lipid nanoparticle-encapsulated mRNA (mRNA-LNP) encoding the receptor binding domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV-2 as a vaccine candidate (called ARCoV).

A recent study has shown that striatal silent infarction may occur secondary to the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra (SN) of mice. However, it is uncertain whether this phenomenon occurs in patients with early-stage Parkinson's disease (PD) and can be detected by diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI). A total of 72 untreated patients with early-stage PD underwent conventional MRI and DKI.

Fluid shear stress plays a key role in many physiological activities and pathological processes of the cardiovascular diseases. In vivo, endothelial cells (ECs) are constantly exposed to hemodynamic force which can modulate structure and function of ECs. Previous studies have demonstrated that IL-8 protein production in endothelial cells was modulated by fluid shear stress, and IL-8 protein production induced by fluid shear stress was time-dependent.
