Here, we conducted high pressure-temperature experiments mimicking the conditions of the deep lower mantle (DLM, 1800-2890 km in depth) and observed surprising mineralogical transformations in the presence of water. Photocatalytic conversion of CO into CH represents an appealing approach to alleviate the world's continued reliance on fossil fuels and global warming resulting from increasing CO concentrations in the atmosphere. However, its practical application is greatly limited by serious electron-hole recombination in the photocatalysts and the production of CO and H as side reactions. Herein, for the first time, it is demonstrated that the photocatalytic reduction of CO to CH can be significantly improved through the simultaneous alloying and hydriding of metal cocatalysts.

The design of near-infrared (NIR) emissive lanthanide (Ln) complexes sensitive to external stimulus is fundamentally important for the practical application of Ln materials. Because NIR emission from Ln is extremely sensitive to X-H (X = C, N and O) bond vibration, we herein report to harness the secondary coordination sphere to design NIR luminescent lanthanide sensors. The interface microstructure of a silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cell was investigated. We found an ultrathin native oxide layer (NOL) with a thickness of several angstroms was formed on the crystalline silicon (c-Si) surface in a very short time (∼30 s) after being etched by HF solution. Although the NOL had a loose structure with defects that are detrimental for surface passivation, it acted as a barrier to restrain the epitaxial growth of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) during the plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD).

The influences of the Li···π interaction of C6H6···LiOH on the H···π interaction of C6H6···HOX (X=F, Cl, Br, I) and the X···π interaction of C6H6···XOH (X=Cl, Br, I) are investigated by means of full electronic second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation theory calculations and "quantum theory of atoms in molecules" (QTAIM) studies. The binding energies, binding distances, infrared vibrational frequencies, and electron densities at the bond critical points (BCPs) of the hydrogen bonds and halogen bonds prove that the addition of the Li···π interaction to benzene weakens the H···π and X···π interactions. The influences of the Li···π interaction on H···π interactions are greater than those on X···π interactions; the influences of the H···π interactions on the Li···π interaction are greater than X···π interactions on Li···π interaction.
