Objectives: Worldwide, the overall cesarean section is rising. Trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC) is an overall safe option with an immediate impact on neonatal and maternal short- and long-term health. Sleep-disordered breathing may be under-recognized in patients who wean from prolonged mechanical ventilation.

Background: The prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) in patients with prolonged mechanical ventilation (PMV) is unknown. The aim of this study was to assess the frequency of SDB in patients admitted to a long-term acute care (LTAC) hospital who weaned from PMV.

Methods: Retrospective chart review was conducted of all PMV patients who had in-patient polysomnography (PSG) between January 2007 and May 2010.

Introduction: The development of glenohumeral osteoarthritis is sufficiently described after instability and rotator cuff pathologies. The purpose of this work was to evaluate a coherency between glenohumeral osteoarthritis and SLAP lesions by means of MR arthrography which has not been described up to now in the literature.

Material And Methods: 20 patients with a SLAP lesion type II were treated with arthroscopic SLAP repair.

Molecular characteristics and predictors of survival in patients with malignant neuroendocrine tumors.

To better understand the molecular pathogenesis of neuroendocrine tumors (NET), we investigated the molecular and clinical characteristics of malignant poorly differentiated colorectal NET and compared these findings with sporadic CRC and well-differentiated benign and malignant fore-/midgut NET. Tumors were analyzed and correlated for microsatellite instability (MSI) and the CpG island methylator phenotype (CIMP). NET were scored for proliferation using Ki-67.

Obstructive sleep apnea and history of asthma in snoring children.

Asthma has been identified as a possible risk factor for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in children. It is not known whether parent-reported asthma increases the likelihood of the diagnosis of OSA in snoring children. We hypothesized that snoring children with asthma are more likely to have OSA than snoring children without asthma.

Racial differences in clinical presentation of patients with sleep-disordered breathing.

We characterized differences in severity, presentation, and treatment compliance in sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) between African Americans (AA) and Caucasians (W). We retrospectively analyzed demographics, proxy measures of socioeconomic position, concurrent illness, presenting complaints, polysomnographic data including respiratory disturbance index (RDI) and time less than 90% O2 saturation (T90), and acceptance of and long-term compliance with CPAP therapy. Over 1 year there were 128 AA, 102 W, and 3 "other.
