Article Synopsis
  • Tideglusib's impact on collagen expression in human dental pulp-derived stem cells (DPSCs) is explored, focusing on type 1 and type 3 collagen levels.
  • The study involved isolating DPSCs from wisdom teeth and treating them with Tideglusib, measuring changes in collagen and Axin-2 expression over time.
  • Results show that Tideglusib initially increased type 1 collagen and Axin-2 after 24 hours, but decreased both collagen types after one week, suggesting further research is needed on its effects on the extracellular matrix.

Purpose: Perioperative inadvertent hypothermia (PIH) is the decrease in core temperature below 36°C. We aimed to assess whether PIH develops in patients operated under local anesthesia (ULA) for vitreoretinal surgery in the operating room and investigate active warming efficacy.

Methods: Seventy-two patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 contained unwarmed patients (n = 36), and Group 2, warmed patients (n = 36).

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of 3 different fixed or removable functional appliances on the soft tissue changes in patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion using 3-dimensional images.

Methods: A total of 60 patients with Class II Division 1 malocclusion (38 girls and 22 boys; mean age, 12.35 ± 1.

Background: The common carp (Cyprinus carpio) is the oldest, most domesticated and one of the most cultured fish species for food consumption. Besides its economic importance, the common carp is also highly suitable for comparative physiological and disease studies in combination with the animal model zebrafish (Danio rerio). They are genetically closely related but offer complementary benefits for fundamental research, with the large body mass of common carp presenting possibilities for obtaining sufficient cell material for advanced transcriptome and proteome studies.

Aim: To determine efficacy and tolerability of dutogliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) inhibitor, in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Methods: This was a 12-week, multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 423 patients with type 2 diabetes with suboptimal metabolic control. Following a 2-week single-blind placebo run-in, patients aged 18-75 years with a body mass index of 25-48 kg/m(2) and baseline HbA1c of 7.
