Introduction: United States Multi-Society Task Force colonoscopy surveillance intervals are based solely on adenoma characteristics, without accounting for other risk factors. We investigated whether a risk model including demographic, environmental, and genetic risk factors could individualize surveillance intervals under an "equal management of equal risks" framework.

Methods: Using 14,069 individuals from the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial who had a diagnostic colonoscopy following an abnormal flexible sigmoidoscopy, we modeled the risk of colorectal cancer, considering the diagnostic colonoscopy finding, baseline risk factors (e.

Targeted protein degradation (TPD) utilizes molecular glues or proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) to eliminate disease-causing proteins by promoting their interaction with E3 ubiquitin ligases. Current TPD approaches are limited by reliance on a small number of constitutively active E3 ubiquitin ligases. Here, we report that (S)-ACE-OH, a metabolite of the antipsychotic drug acepromazine, acts as a molecular glue to induce an interaction between the E3 ubiquitin ligase TRIM21 and the nucleoporin NUP98, leading to the degradation of nuclear pore proteins and disruption of nucleocytoplasmic trafficking.

Article Synopsis
  • Dual immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) using CTLA4 and PD-(L)1 inhibitors shows improved anti-tumor effectiveness and immune toxicity compared to PD-(L)1 inhibitors alone in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.
  • Patients with mutations in STK11 and/or KEAP1 genes benefit more from the combination treatment compared to those receiving only PD-(L)1 inhibitors, as shown in the POSEIDON trial.
  • The loss of KEAP1 serves as a strong predictor for the success of dual ICB, as it leads to a more favorable outcome by changing the tumor's immune environment to better engage CD4 and CD8 T cells for anti-tumor activity. *

To quickly assess slope stability based on field displacement monitoring data, this paper constructs a hybrid optimization model that predicts surface displacement during tunnel excavation in base-overburden slopes. The model combines Wavelet Decomposition (WD) with a Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), and the GRU's hyperparameters are optimized using an Improved Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (IPSO). The specific steps are as follows: First, the Wavelet Decomposition (WD) technique is applied to decompose the raw displacement data, extracting features at different time-frequency scales.

The control of enantioselectivity in radical cation reactions presents long-standing challenges, despite a few successful examples. We introduce a novel strategy of asymmetric counteranion-directed electrocatalysis to address enantioselectivity in radical cation chemistry. This concept has been successfully demonstrated in two reactions: an asymmetric dehydrogenative indole-phenol [3+2] coupling and an atroposelective C-H/N-H dehydrogenative coupling.

The effective separation of aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons remains a notable challenge in the petrochemical industry. Herein, we report a self-healing three-dimensional B ← N-based hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF), BN-HOF-1, constructed from discrete B ← N inclusive dimers through weak C-H···F and C-H···N hydrogen-bonding interactions. To make use of the specific recognition of the B ← N inclusive dimers for the toluene molecules and the reversible ad/desorption nature of this novel HOF, BN-HOF-1 can exclusively recognize and separate toluene from the mixtures of toluene-methylcyclohexane, thus generating 99.

The cleavage of C-O bonds is one of the most promising strategies for lignin-to-chemicals conversion, which has attracted considerable attention in recent years. However, current catalytic system capable of selectively breaking C-O bonds in lignin often requires a precious metal catalyst and/or harsh conditions such as high-pressure H and elevated temperatures. Herein, we report a novel protocol of paired electrolysis to effectively cleave the C-O-4 bond of lignin model compounds and real lignin at room temperature and ambient pressure.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs), derived from the non-enzymatic glycation reaction, are defined as glycotoxins in various diseases including aging, diabetes and kidney injury. Exploring AGEs as potential biomarkers for these diseases holds paramount significance. Nevertheless, the high chemical structural similarity and great heterogeneity among AGEs present a formidable challenge when it comes to the comprehensive, simultaneous, and accurate detection of multiple AGEs in biological samples.

The transition metal-catalyzed enantioselective C-H functionalization strategy has revolutionized the logic of natural product synthesis. However, previous applications have heavily relied on the use of noble metal catalysts such as rhodium and palladium. Herein, we report the efficient synthesis of C-chiral 1,2-dihydroisoquinolines (DHIQs) via enantioselective C-H/N-H annulation of picolinamides with alkynes catalyzed by a more sustainable and cheaper 3d metal catalyst, cobalt(II) acetate tetrahydrate.
