Background: Latrophilin-2 (Lphn2), an adhesive GPCR (G protein-coupled receptor), was found to be a specific marker of cardiac progenitors during the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into cardiomyocytes or during embryonic heart development in our previous studies. Its role in adult heart physiology, however, remains unclear.
Methods: The embryonic lethality resulting from deletion necessitates the establishment of cardiomyocyte-specific, tamoxifen-inducible knockout mice, which was achieved by crossing mice with mice having MerCreMer (tamoxifen-inducible Cre [Cyclization recombinase] recombinase) under the α-myosin heavy chain promoter.
In the early 2000s, low dimensional ferroelectric systems were predicted to have topologically nontrivial polar structures, such as vortices or skyrmions, depending on mechanical or electrical boundary conditions. A few variants of these structures have been experimentally observed in thin film model systems, where they are engineered by balancing electrostatic charge and elastic distortion energies. However, the measurement and classification of topological textures for general ferroelectric nanostructures have remained elusive, as it requires mapping the local polarization at the atomic scale in three dimensions.

This study aims to characterize the emergence and evolution of AI/ML articles within neuroradiology and provide a comprehensive overview of the trends, challenges, and future directions of the field.
Materials And Methods: We performed a bibliometric analysis of the ; the journal was queried for original research articles published since inception (January 1, 1980) to December 3, 2022 that contained any of the following key terms: "machine learning," "artificial intelligence," "radiomics," "deep learning," "neural network," "generative adversarial network," "object detection," or "natural language processing.
Unsatisfactory outcomes following long-term multidrug treatment in patients with complex (MAC) pulmonary disease have urged us to develop novel antibiotics. Thiopeptides, a class of peptide antibiotics derived from natural products, have potential as drug candidates that target bacterial ribosomes, but drug development has been hampered due to their extremely poor solubility. Here, we evaluated three new compounds (AJ-037, AJ-039, and AJ-206) derived from the thiopeptide micrococcin P2 with enhanced aqueous solubility; the derivatives were generated based on structure-activity relationship analysis.

Recently, deep learning-based computer-aided diagnosis systems (CADs) have demonstrated their potential to reduce reading time and discrepancy amongst readers. However, the obscure reasoning of deep neural networks (DNNs) has been the leading cause to reluctance in its clinical use as CAD systems.

Yet, only two drugs, vancomycin and fidaxomicin, are approved by the FDA for the treatment of infections as of this writing, while the global pipeline of new drugs is sparse at best. Thus, there is a clear and urgent need for new antibiotics against that organism.

Methods: The data of 4 080 331 individuals linked to the health screening database in 2009 were retrieved (males, 55.08%; mean age, 47.
Background Although nonmass enhancement (NME) extension to the nipple at preoperative MRI frequently leads to sacrifice of the nipple-areolar complex (NAC), its correlation with pathologically confirmed NAC involvement is unclear. Purpose To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of using NME extension to the subareolar region at breast MRI to predict pathologic nipple involvement and the eligibility for nipple-sparing mastectomy. Materials and Methods From November 2017 to November 2019, the authors prospectively enrolled participants with breast cancer and NME within 2 cm of the nipple at breast MRI who underwent surgery that included removal of the NAC.

Purpose To investigate the interobserver agreement of the preoperative CT classification of the local resectability of pancreatic cancer and to determine if radiologist experience level impacts evaluation, and to evaluate the reader performance in assessing resectability at CT in a subset of patients with a reference standard for local resectability. Materials and Methods This retrospective study was composed of patients with pathologic-analysis-confirmed pancreatic cancers between January 2013 and December 2014 who underwent baseline multiphasic contrast agent-enhanced CT.

Purpose To evaluate the diagnostic performance of US LI-RADS version 2017 for detecting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in participants at high risk and to determine the clinical factors associated with a poor visualization score. Materials and Methods This study included 407 prospectively recruited participants (mean age, 56 years; age range, 28-76 years) with cirrhosis at high risk for HCC who underwent US surveillance from November 2011 to August 2012.

Abnormal regulation of gene expression is closely related to carcinogenesis, which is why the assessment of DNA methylation is a key factor in cancer research. Terahertz radiation may play an important role in active demethylation for cancer therapy because the characteristic frequency of the methylated DNA exists in the terahertz region.

Methods: Deep whole exome and targeted sequencing analyses were conducted for matched brain and blood tissues from patients with intractable NLFE and patients with mMCD who are negative for mutations in mTOR pathway genes. Furthermore, tissue glyco-capture and nanoLC/mass spectrometry analysis were performed to examine N-glycosylation in affected brain tissue.
Objectives: Preservation of both anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) can lead to near-normal post-operative joint mechanics and improved knee function. We hypothesised that a patient-specific bicruciate-retaining prosthesis preserves near-normal kinematics better than standard off-the-shelf posterior cruciate-retaining and bicruciate-retaining prostheses in TKA.
Methods: We developed the validated models to evaluate the post-operative kinematics in patient-specific bicruciate-retaining, standard off-the-shelf bicruciate-retaining and posterior cruciate-retaining TKA under gait and deep knee bend loading conditions using numerical simulation.

Emerging evidence indicates a role for microRNAs (miRNAs) in AAA pathogenesis, but it is unclear whether abdominal aortic endothelial miRNAs play a role in the disease process. We aimed to identify miRNAs in the abdominal aortic endothelium that play a critical role in AAA development.
