An incursion and outbreak of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) was reported in Australia in 2021 and 2022, respectively. There was speculation that JEV may have been circulating in Australia unknowingly prior to the detection. In this study, we determined sero-prevalence and transmission of West Nile virus (WNV), Murray Valley encephalitis virus (MVEV) and JEV, prior to and post JEV incursion in a sentinel equine population in south-east Queensland (SEQ), Australia, using blocking ELISAs (screening test) and virus neutralisation test (confirmatory).

We propose a new stable three-dimensional (3D) porous and metallic boron nitride anode material, named h-BN, with good ductility for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Based on first-principles calculations and a tight-binding model, we demonstrate that the metallicity originates from the synergistic contribution of the p-orbital of the sp-hybridized B and N atoms, while the ductility is due to the unique configurations of B-B and N-N dimers in the structure. More importantly, this boron nitride allotrope exhibits a high reversible capacity of 582.

However, approximately 55% of these patients do not respond to pembrolizumab, underscoring the need for the early intervention of non-responders to optimize treatment strategies. Distinguishing the 55% sub-cohort prior to treatment is a real-world dilemma.

Whether such functional plasticity induces relative anatomical structural changes remains to be investigated.
Methods: In this study, we investigated the changes in brain cortical thickness in patients with facial paralysis following neurorrhaphy treatment at different follow-up times.
Purpose: To assess the impact of retrograde dissection of the facial nerve along the mandibular margin on the postoperative quality of life in patients with benign superficial parotid tumors.
Methods: One hundred and sixteen patients who underwent surgical treatment for benign superficial parotid tumors at Qingdao Central Hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 were involved. The patients were randomly allocated into two groups, with 58 patients in each group using the touch ball method.
Introduction: Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is highly prevalent in elder individuals, and its variable cognitive outcomes indicate some cognitive reserve mechanisms. Contribution from functional network features is still unclear. Here we explore how functional segregation-integration preference influences the cognitive changes against CSVD.

However, the prognostic roles of PI in pathologic (p)T3-4N0M0 NSCLC remain controversial. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of PI in patients with pT3-4N0M0 NSCLC.

Memristors, the backbone of neuromorphic processors, retain their state after programming without static power consumption. Among them, electro-optic memristors are of great interest, as they enable dual electrical-optical functionality that bridges the efficiency of electronics and the bandwidth of photonics.

Here, we demonstrate a high-throughput synthesis using amide-sulfoxonium ylides as carbene precursors in a Si-H, Ge-H, B-H, Se-H, and S-H insertion reactions to target a wide range of α-silyl, α-geryl, α-boryl, α-selenyl, and α-sulfur (hetero)amides. The process is featured as simple operation, mild conditions, broad substrate scope, high functional group compatibility, and excellent chemoselectivity.

Proper PGRN levels are critical for brain health; however, the function of PGRN is unclear. PGRN is composed of 7.

Eye-tracking augmented debriefing (ETAD) may provide advantages over traditional debriefing (TD) by leveraging video replay with first-person perspective. This multisite randomized controlled trial compared the impact of ETAD with TD (without eye-tracking and without video) after simulation on 4 outcomes: (1) resident metacognitive awareness (the primary outcome), (2) cognitive load (CL) of residents and debriefers, (3) alignment of resident self-assessment and debriefer assessment scores, and (4) resident and debriefer perceptions of the debriefing experience.

When injected directly into cerebrospinal fluid, ASOs distribute broadly across brain regions and exert long-lasting therapeutic effects. However, many phosphorothioate (PS)-modified gapmer ASOs show transient motor phenotypes when injected into the cerebrospinal fluid, ranging from reduced motor activity to ataxia or acute seizure-like phenotypes.

Disparities in the use of precision oncology technologies should be monitored and addressed to ensure equitable cancer care.

This approach is applied to the square lattice Ising model. The Monte Carlo method with the Metropolis algorithm is utilized to calculate the critical temperature T_{C}^{*} under equilibrium thermodynamic phase transition conditions and to investigate the characterization of randomness in terms of magnetization.

Background: Little is known about hospital-level variation in COVID-19 drug treatments in a large and diverse network in the United States.
The prevalence of many chronic noncommunicable diseases has been steadily rising over the past six decades. During this time, over 350,000 new chemical substances have been introduced to the lives of humans. In recent years, the epithelial barrier theory came to light explaining the growing prevalence and exacerbations of these diseases worldwide.

Purpose: To compare posterior tibial slope (PTS) measurements of the medial tibial plateau (MTP) and lateral tibial plateau (LTP) on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) versus computed tomography (CT) to determine the agreement of measurement between imaging modalities.
Methods: Patients aged 15 to 65 years with concurrent MRI and CT imaging were initially included. Knees with significant arthrosis (Kellgren-Lawrence grade >2), proximal tibia fracture, or artifact obscuring visualization were excluded.
Background: Calmodulinopathies are rare inherited arrhythmia syndromes caused by dominant heterozygous variants in , , or , which each encode the identical CaM (calmodulin) protein. We hypothesized that antisense oligonucleotide (ASO)-mediated depletion of an affected calmodulin gene would ameliorate disease manifestations, whereas the other 2 calmodulin genes would preserve CaM level and function.
Methods: We tested this hypothesis using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte and mouse models of pathogenic variants.
Tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) hypofunction contributes to the progression of advanced cancers and is a frequent target of immunotherapy. Emerging evidence indicates that metabolic insufficiency drives T cell hypofunction during tonic stimulation, but the signals that initiate metabolic reprogramming in this context are largely unknown. Here, we found that Meteorin-like (METRNL), a metabolically active cytokine secreted by immune cells in the tumor microenvironment (TME), induced bioenergetic failure of CD8 T cells.
