Oxidation states and distribution of arsenic (As) in annually laminated (varved) lacustrine deposits were analyzed with a seasonal resolution. This deposit was formed in the mid-Holocene landslide-dammed paleolake in the upper reaches of the Ane River, central Japan and the paleolake watershed consists of the Jurassic accretionary complexes (Mino-Tamba belt) including sedimentary and igneous rocks. In the outcrop, centimeter-to-decimeter-scale silty clay layers alternating with laminated layers are well developed.

In CS, major arterial resection and reconstruction are necessary for complete radical resection.
Methods: We discuss the key points for safely performing pancreatectomy with celiac axis (CA) resection combined with reconstruction, divided into resection and arterial reconstruction.
Background: A ventriculoatrial (VA) shunt is an alternative to a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt for managing hydrocephalus, especially when VP shunt insertion is not feasible. Despite its decline in use, the VA shunt remains vital for certain patients. This report highlights a rare complication of bilateral vocal cord paralysis following VA shunt insertion for hydrocephalus secondary to subarachnoid hemorrhage.

OSW-1, a natural compound with anticancer activity, potently inhibits OSBP that transports cholesterol and phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate (PI4P) at contact sites between the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus. Previously, we reported that OSW-1 induces the Golgi stress response, resulting in Golgi stress-induced transcription and cell death.

This multi-municipality longitudinal study examined the association between proximity to public transportation and risk of depression among older adults and considered car usage.
Methods: We analyzed data from 4947 functionally independent adults, aged 65 years and older who resided in 25 municipalities across Japan.
