Novel lipophilic cationic derivatives including quaternary ammonium salt and triphenylphosphine series were designed and synthesized using diosgenin (1) and sarsasapogenin (2) as substrates to improve the cytotoxicity and selectivity. Most of the derivatives showed higher cytotoxicity against all cancer cell lines tested, compound 13 exhibited the most superior activity against A549 cells with an IC value of 0.95 μM, which was 34-fold of diosgenin.

This study investigates the therapeutic effects of recombinant human IL-10 (rhIL-10) administered via aerosol inhalation in acute lung injury (ALI), with a particular focus on neutrophils. It explores how rhIL-10, in the presence of platelets, modulates neutrophil polarization to ameliorate acute lung injury. Initially, the ALI model established in mice demonstrated that aerosol inhalation of rhIL-10 significantly mitigated the cytokine storm in the lungs, reduced pulmonary edema, and alleviated histopathological damage to lung tissue.

As promising bifunctional electrocatalysts, transition metal nitrides are expected to achieve an efficient hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR) by fine-tuning electronic structure via strain engineering, thereby facilitating hydrogen production. However, understanding the correlation between strain-induced atomic microenvironments and reactivity remains challenging. Herein, a generalized compressive strained W-NiN catalyst is developed to create a surface with enriched electronic states that optimize intermediate binding and activate both water and NH.

Background: Recent research has identified the Low-Carbohydrate Diet (LCD) score as a novel biomarker, with studies showing that LCDs can reduce carbon dioxide retention, potentially improving lung function. While the link between the LCD score and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has been explored, its relevance in the US population remains uncertain. This study aims to explore the association between the LCD score and the likelihood of COPD prevalence in this population.

Understanding the developmental sequence characteristics of the vertebral and appendicular skeletons of the larvae and juveniles of Larimichthys crocea (Naozhou population) can provide theoretical basis for seedling cultivation, environmental adaptation, and taxonomic identification. The cartilage-bone double staining method was used to stain, observe, and analyse the vertebrae, pectoral fins, anal fins, caudal fins, and dorsal fins of the larvae and juveniles of L. crocea (0-30 days post-hatching [DPH]).
