The great artist and one-time revolutionary, Jacques-Louis David died in 1825. The cause of his death has been open to speculation. An extraordinary sequence of portraits of the artist describes his transition from handsome middle age to a deformed old man.

Vicia tetrasperma (four-seeded vetch) ingestion by a 3-year-old child.

We report an ingestion of Vicia tetrasperma (four-seeded vetch), initially misidentified as crown vetch (Coronilla varia). Vicia tetrasperma is not listed in POISINDEX; little is known of its toxic effects and we found no published human case reports. The child suffered only minor gastrointestinal effects which lasted a few hours and had no residual effects upon 24- and 96-hour followups.

Complete recovery after massive ethylene glycol ingestion.

We treated a 64-year-old man who recovered completely from a massive antifreeze ingestion with ethylene glycol levels well above those of previously described survivors. Rapid and aggressive treatment of the patient with recognized methods, including hemodialysis, resulted in the favorable outcome.
