Outcome Measurement: Patient Satisfaction Scores and Contact With Oncology Nurse Navigators.

Background: Satisfaction with care is a reported outcome of patient navigation. Assessment methods vary, as do navigation programs, including the use of oncology nurse navigators (ONNs).

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of contact with an ONN on patient satisfaction.

Understanding colorectal screening behaviors and factors associated with screening in a community hospital setting.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. More than 2,000 Kentuckians are diagnosed with CRC annually, and more than 800 die from the disease. Little research has been conducted in Kentucky to better understand why individuals are not screened for CRC and what strategies might encourage them to do so.

Neural systems and cue-induced cocaine craving.

We have extended our previous work investigating the neural correlates of cue-induced cocaine craving through the use of positron emission tomography with greater spatial resolution (<4.6 mm), an evocative script, and a pixel-by-pixel analysis. Craving and cerebral glucose metabolism were measured after presentation of cocaine-related or neutral cues to 11 cocaine abusers.
