Objective: To systematically explore vulvar pathology diagnosed prior to vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC), as well as the association with tumor characteristics, stage and survival outcome, with the aim of improving vulvar cancer prevention strategies.
Methods: VSCC diagnosed between 2005 and 2019 were identified from a population-based cohort provided by the Dutch Nationwide Pathology Databank. Pathology reports were reviewed to identify vulvar pathology diagnosed before primary VSCC.
Objective: This study compares two types of therapeutic model videos: an ideal model and a model that shows mistakes. The idea is that the conscious perception of mistakes is more likely to help build a comprehensive understanding of clinical communication skills than an ideal model.
Methods: A total of n1=111 psychology students and n2=57 people from the general population were randomly assigned to one of two training conditions as part of an online study.
Objectives: To compare oncological outcomes in patients with early-stage high-intermediate or high-risk endometrial cancer undergoing surgical staging by laparotomy, conventional laparoscopy, or robot-assisted laparoscopy.
Methods: Patients diagnosed between 2015 and 2021 with stage I-II (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics 2009), high-intermediate or high-risk endometrial cancer who underwent staging surgery, were identified in the Netherlands Cancer Registry. Five-year disease-free survival and overall survival were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and differences between groups were evaluated using log-rank testing.
We present a high-power ridge waveguide distributed feedback (DFB) laser with a high-reflective coating and a phase shift section at the rear facet. The phase shift section is realized by means of a micro heater that is placed parallel to the ridge waveguide and the uniform grating. This type of heater section is easy to integrate into existing laser designs and allows adjusting and controlling the spectral behavior of the distributed feedback laser by shifting the rear facet phase condition, which makes it possible to overcome the challenges of mode-hop-free tuning of regular DFB lasers with highly reflective cleaved rear facet.
