Introduction: We assessed tofacitinib efficacy and safety in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) by body mass index (BMI) category.

Methods: Data were pooled from phase 2/3 trials; analyses included patients with active AS randomized (1:1) to tofacitinib 5 mg twice daily or placebo, who were stratified by baseline BMI into < 25, ≥ 25 to < 30, and ≥ 30 kg/m categories. Efficacy was assessed at week 12 and safety to week 16.

Microhaplotypes (MHs) describe physically close genetic markers that are inherited together and are gaining prominence due to their efficiency in forensic, clinical, and population studies. They excel in kinship analysis, DNA mixture detection, and ancestry inference, offering advantages in precision over individual SNPs and STRs. In this study, a pipeline was developed to efficiently select highly informative MHs from large-scale genomic datasets.

Objective: Quality of care (QoC) delivery in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) continues to suffer from various challenges (eg, delay in diagnosis and referral) that can lead to poor patient outcomes. This study aimed to identify good practice interventions that address these challenges in RA care in North America.

Methods: The study was conducted in three steps: (1) literature review of existing publications and guidelines (April 2005 to April 2021) on QoC in RA; (2) in-person visits to >50 individual specialists and health care professionals across nine rheumatology centers in the United States and Canada to identify challenges in RA care and any corresponding good practice interventions; and (3) collation and organization of findings of the two previous methods by commonalities to identify key good practice interventions, followed by further review by RA experts to ensure key challenges and gaps in RA care were captured.

Background: While many populations struggle with health literacy, those who speak Spanish preferentially or exclusively, including Hispanic, immigrant, or migrant populations, may face particular barriers, as they navigate a predominantly English-language healthcare system. This population also faces greater morbidity and mortality from treatable chronic diseases, such as hypertension and diabetes. The aim of this systematic review was to describe existing health literacy interventions for patients with a Spanish-language preference and present their effectiveness.
