Introduction: The selection of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke in the elderly remains challenging due to the underrepresentation of these patients in landmark randomized trials. The aim of this study was to assess the association between age and the pre-stroke modified Rankin scale score with functional outcomes after EVT in elderly patients aged ≥80 years.
Methods: We prospectively collected data from consecutive elderly patients who underwent EVT of the anterior or posterior circulation at our institution between 2007 and 2022.
Unlabelled: Adenosine modulates brain activity through 4 G protein-coupled receptors, primarily adenosine A(1) receptors (A(1)ARs). A(1)ARs are heterogeneously distributed throughout the brain and participate in many physiologic processes-for example, the induction of sleep and feedback inhibition of excitatory neurotransmission. There is also evidence that A(1)ARs are involved in brain pathologies, including cerebral ischemia, epilepsy, and neurodegeneration.

They decrease with age and after atrioventricular nodal modification (AVNM) suggesting vagal denervation in both situations. We hypothesized, however, that AVNM causes only a transient, functional decline in vagal activity, whereas aging causes permanent vagal denervation.

The unit includes two diagnostic systems which enable the absolute measurement of both the (85)Rb and (129)Xe polarization in situ and at high temperatures. The Rb diagnostic system allows the measurement of one- or two-dimensional images of the absolute Rb polarization and thus enables the experimental study of light penetration into the optical pumping cell.
