Maternal Cardiovascular Research and Education Should be Prioritized in the US.

Maternal mortality rates in the US have been increasing steadily over the past decade, with rates significantly increased versus the rest of the developed world, despite the vast healthcare infrastructure. The purpose of this paper is to discuss key areas that need to be addressed within basic science, clinical, and community-based settings to help promote increased education, research, and awareness of specific pregnancy-associated changes that can occur during both healthy and complicated pregnancies. Through increased awareness, we can promote healthier pregnancies and not only help to reduce maternal mortality rates but also improve the long-term cardiovascular outcomes in mothers and their children.

Background And Purpose: Magnetic Resonance Imaging is widely used to assess disease burden in multiple sclerosis (MS). This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a commercially available k-nearest neighbors (k-NN) software in quantifying white matter lesion (WML) burden in MS. We compared the software's WML quantification to expert radiologists' assessments.

Drop Vertical Jump Landing Mechanics Are Similar Between Patients With Quadriceps Tendon and Patellar Tendon Autografts After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction.

Purpose: To compare the biomechanics of a drop vertical jump (DVJ) landing task and functional outcomes among patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with quadriceps tendon (QT) and patellar tendon (PT) autografts.

Methods: Physically active patients who underwent primary ACLR with either a QT or PT autograft were included in this study. All were within 6 months to 2 years after surgery and cleared for return to physical activity.
