The performance of an optoelectronic device is largely dependent on the light harvesting properties of the active material as well as the dynamic behaviour of the photoexcited charge carriers upon absorption of light. Recently, atomically thin two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D TMDCs) have garnered attention as highly prospective materials for advanced ultrathin solar cells and other optoelectronic applications, owing to their strong interaction with electromagnetic radiation, substantial optical conductivity, and impressive charge carrier mobility. WSe is one such extremely promising solar energy material.

Determining the dissociation mechanism of perchlorate materials remains a top priority to address sustainability, handling, processing, and synthesis issues of new and existing high-energy density materials vital to many industrial processes. We determined the dissociation mechanism of diglycine perchlorate (DGPCl) using vibrational spectroscopy, which unveiled the formation of ammonium perchlorate (AP) and carbon at high temperatures. Our studies establish that DGPCl shows multiple phase transitions upon heating.

Background/aim: Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus causes significant morbidity, mortality, and excess healthcare costs when compared to vancomycin-susceptible isolates. Patients with hematological malignancies, especially those who undergo hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, are at a particularly high risk for infections with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus, with mortality ranging from 40-100%. Linezolid and daptomycin are the two most commonly used antibiotics for treatment of vancomycin-resistant enterococcal infections, however, there has been recent emergence of resistance to these drugs as well.
