We determined the dissociation mechanism of diglycine perchlorate (DGPCl) using vibrational spectroscopy, which unveiled the formation of ammonium perchlorate (AP) and carbon at high temperatures. Our studies establish that DGPCl shows multiple phase transitions upon heating.

Background/aim: Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus causes significant morbidity, mortality, and excess healthcare costs when compared to vancomycin-susceptible isolates. Patients with hematological malignancies, especially those who undergo hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, are at a particularly high risk for infections with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus, with mortality ranging from 40-100%. Linezolid and daptomycin are the two most commonly used antibiotics for treatment of vancomycin-resistant enterococcal infections, however, there has been recent emergence of resistance to these drugs as well.

This work presents a novel cascade reaction for their efficient synthesis. The approach utilizes silver as a catalyst for C(sp)-H sulfonylation of readily available starting materials 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes with sulfinate salts, followed by intramolecular cascade cyclization annulation to afford the desired 5-amino-4-sulfonyl pyrazoles in good to excellent yields under mild conditions.
