Comparison of sedation with pentazocine or pethidine hydrochloride for endoscopic ultrasonography in outpatients: A single-center retrospective study.

Objectives: Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) plays an important role in the diagnosis of pancreatobiliary diseases. However, an appropriate sedation method for EUS has not been established. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the safety and complications of sedation with pentazocine or pethidine hydrochloride for outpatient diagnostic EUS.

Background: Cardiac myxoma rarely occurs in the right ventricle, and as is a benign disease, it rarely shows high positivity on 18F fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT).

Case Presentation: We present herein the case of a 77-year-old woman who was found to have a heart murmur during a routine health checkup. Further examination revealed a 27-mm tumor in the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) and moderate aortic valve stenosis.

Topical Infection of Cordyceps militaris in Silkworm Larvae Through the Cuticle has Lower Infectivity Compared to Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae.

Topical infection of entomopathogenic fungi in insects occurs when the fungal conidia attach to the insect's surface (cuticle), germinate, and then form appressoria that penetrate the cuticle and enter their bodies. In this study, we inoculated silkworm larvae with three entomopathogenic fungi, Cordyceps militaris, Beauveria bassiana, and Metarhizium anisopliae, and investigated their mechanisms of infection. Attachment of the conidia of the three entomopathogenic fungi to the surface of silkworm larvae was observed under a microscope.

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) rechargeable batteries have been expected to be lightweight energy storage devices with the highest gravimetric energy density at the single-cell level reaching up to 695 Wh kg, having also an ultralow rate of 0.005 C only in the first discharge. Sulfurized polyacrylonitrile (SPAN) is one of the sulfur-based active materials, which allows more freedom in the Li-S cell design because it shows no undesirable reactions with electrolyte solutions.

A case of anterior mediastinal mature teratoma with severe inflammatory extension into the neck.

Background: We present the case of a rare occurrence of an anterior mediastinal mature teratoma extending into the neck, commonly referred to as a cervicothoracic mature teratoma.

Case Presentation: A 19-year-old female presented with right-sided neck pain and swelling, which were found to be attributed to a 14 cm cystic lesion originating from the right thyroid lobe and extending into the mediastinum. A diagnosis of mediastinal teratoma with extension to the neck was made.
