Background and objective There is scarce data on the treatment outcomes of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoblastic lymphoma (B-ALL/LBL) in elderly patients in the era of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), blinatumomab, and inotuzumab ozogamicin. In light of this, we aimed to address this gap in data by conducting this retrospective study. Methods Treatment outcomes were retrospectively evaluated by using data from transplant-ineligible patients aged 65 years or older with newly diagnosed B-ALL/LBL (n=29) at two hospitals in Oita, Japan between 2013 and 2023.

Background: With the advent of effective chemotherapy, conversion surgery (CS) has been performed in patients who have responded to pretreatment, even for pancreatic cancer diagnosed as unresectable (UR) at the time of initial diagnosis. In CS, major arterial resection and reconstruction are necessary for complete radical resection.

Methods: We discuss the key points for safely performing pancreatectomy with celiac axis (CA) resection combined with reconstruction, divided into resection and arterial reconstruction.

Acrylamide polymers with zwitterionic carboxybetaine (CB) side groups have attracted attention as stealth polymers that do not induce antibodies when conjugated to proteins. However, they induce antibodies when modified onto liposomes. We hypothesized that antibodies are produced against polymer backbones rather than CB side groups.

Purpose: Although arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are typically benign lesions, massive ones can lead to severe complications, including heart failure. Notably, there is no standardized treatment for AVMs. Moreover, management of AVMs can be challenging when these lesions involve vital organ systems, such as the head and neck.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the use of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) as a diagnostic tool for wild-type transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTRwt-CA) among outpatient individuals aged 70 and older in Japan.
  • - Out of 1,141 enrolled participants, 55 showed elevated hs-cTnT levels, leading to further examinations for a total of 33, with 2 men ultimately diagnosed with ATTRwt-CA.
  • - The findings suggest that hs-cTnT testing can effectively screen for undiagnosed ATTRwt-CA in primary care, identifying 9.1% of those with elevated levels and at least 0.18% in the overall
