Atrial fibrillation (AF) is strongly associated with strokes, heart failure, and increased mortality. This study aims to identify the monocyte-macrophage heterogeneity and interactions of these cells with non-immune cells, and to identify functional biomarkers in patients with AF. Therefore, we assess the single cell landscape of left atria (LA), using a combination of single cell and nucleus RNA-seq.

While surgery is the primary treatment, advanced stages often require pharmacotherapy. Recently, ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death caused by lipid peroxidation, has gained attention as a potential therapeutic strategy.

Recently, an increased number of cases of renal impairment induced by a supplement containing red yeast rice have been reported in Japan. A 42-year-old man with no history of chronic kidney disease developed renal dysfunction with proximal tubular damage after supplementation with red yeast rice.

Particulate matter less than 2.5 microns (PM) was collected hourly on polytetrafluoroethylene filters using a continuous PM monitor with a virtual impactor method.

Decades ago, it was demonstrated that the temperature holding periods at the denaturation and annealing stages in thermal cycles for PCR amplification could be essentially eliminated if a rapid change of temperature for an entire PCR mixture was achieved. Microfluidic devices facilitating the application of such fast thermocycling protocols have significantly reduced the time required for PCR.
