Introduction: Worldwide research suggests that the COVID-19 pandemic had little to no overall effect on preschool children's mental health, but that the impact is variable depending on pre-existing and COVID-19-related inequalities. Evidence from low- and middle-income country settings is sparse, yet effects may be more variable due to greater inequalities. We provide the first empirical evidence for the impact of the pandemic on emotional and behavioural problems in Indian preschool children, after accounting for normative age-related change, and test whether the impact varied depending on COVID-19-related inequalities.

Introduction: Flavoring in cigarillos contributes to greater product initiation and abuse liability particularly among young adults. Few studies have examined how packaging elements, including flavor, may draw visual attention from potential consumers as well as impact product recall. This study aimed to test the difference in visual attention to flavor names and other packaging elements on cigarillo products as well as recall of these packaging elements.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted patients' mental health through a new assessment tool called the COVID-19 Events Checklist (CEC) used in a telemedicine outpatient psychiatric clinic from April 2020 to March 2021.
  • - It analyzes data from 842 patients, linking COVID-19-related experiences with psychological symptoms, using established measures for anxiety (GAD-7), depression (PHQ-9), and psychological distress (BASE-6).
  • - Findings show significant correlations between social determinants of health and mental health outcomes, indicating that negative COVID-19 impacts and coping strategies were strongly associated with levels of anxiety, depression, and overall psychological well-being.

A rise in demand for disposable consumer electronics such as smart packaging, wearable electronics, and single-use point-of-source sensors requires the development of eco-friendly and compostable electronic materials. Chitosan is derived from crustacean waste and offers high dielectric constant values without requiring rigorous purification, making it sustainable for large-scale electronic device manufacturing. When processed in acidic media, the protonated backbone of chitosan pairs with counterions from the acid dissociation to form chitosan thin films with electrical double layers (EDLs) and tunable capacitive properties.

Diverting loop ileostomy is performed after colectomy to allow for anastomotic healing, and prevention of pelvic sepsis when an anastomotic leak occurs. There is no consensus on the optimal timing of ileostomy closure, and there is limited data on complications associated with ileostomy closure greater than 12 months after creation. The aim of this study is to investigate outcomes of delayed loop ileostomy closure greater than 12 months after creation.
