Subungual exostosis is a relatively rare benign bone tumor that occurs near the distal phalanges of the fingers and toes. Though it is similar to osteochondroma, it can be distinguished by its specific location and lack of communication with the medullary cavity. Although recurrence after surgical excision has been reported, no studies have examined the timing or progression of recurrence, nor have there been reports detailing the chronological imaging findings of recurrent cases.

Article Synopsis
  • * Using mouse models, researchers found that renal injury activated the mineralocorticoid receptor (MR), which was linked to increased levels of HMGB1 and RAGE, and that blocking this pathway lessened kidney damage and inflammation.
  • * Results indicate that HMGB1 is a key factor in the development of AKI and its progression to CKD by activating the Rac1/MR pathway, suggesting potential therapeutic targets for preventing kidney injury.

Objective: Acute aortic dissection (AAD) is a life-threatening condition that necessitates rapid medical intervention. In Japan, helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) are deployed using either keyword-based early requests or standard requests from ground emergency medical services (GEMS). This study evaluates the impact of these request methods on patient outcomes.

Metal-doped silica membranes, fabricated via the sol-gel technique using metal nitrates, hold promise for high-temperature separation processes, such as H separation in steam reforming reactions. However, controlling the status of the doped metal is challenging and often leads to defect formation owing to the aggregation of metal oxides. In this study, we designed a uniform carbon-Co-SiO ceramic membrane using a one-pot sol-gel method with copolymerization, employing tetraethoxysilane and cobalt acetylacetone(III) (Co-(acac)) as precursors.

Introduction: We retrospectively analyzed convulsive patient outcomes transported by a physician-staffed Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (doctor helicopter [DH]) using the keyword-triggered dispatch with data from the Japan DH Registry System (JDRS). Upon receiving an emergency call containing critical keywords, such as an ongoing convulsion at the firefighting central command room, immediate dispatch of the DH is requested, in addition to dispatching an ambulance. The keyword-triggered dispatch relied on data obtained from the JDRS.
