  • Emergency endoscopic hemostasis is effective for treating colonic diverticular bleeding, but identifying the bleeding source can be challenging for patients and healthcare providers.
  • A scoring system called the Jichi Medical University diverticular hemorrhage score (JD score) was developed to better predict bleeding sources based on specific clinical criteria.
  • Results showed that a higher JD score significantly increased the rate of identifying the bleeding source (77% vs. 23%), ultimately leading to shorter hospital stays, but there was a greater incidence of rebleeding in high JD score patients.
