Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the Pegu Rice Frog, found in ten Asian countries, but genetic data is mainly limited to Southeast Asia.
  • Researchers collected a specimen from Mizoram, India, to explore the genetic diversity of this species throughout its distribution using COI and 16S rRNA gene sequences.
  • The findings indicate significant genetic variation and multiple haplotypes, suggesting the existence of a species complex or cryptic diversity within the Pegu Rice Frog across South and Southeast Asia.
