Introduction: The Alarm Distress BaBy (ADBB) scale developed by Guedeney and Fermanian in 2001, is a validated screening tool designed for use by healthcare practitioners to identify infant social withdrawal. This study will explore the acceptability and feasibility of the use of the full ADBB scale and a modified ADBB (m-ADBB) scale as part of routine health visiting visits in England.

Methods And Analysis: A mixed methods sequential exploratory design will be used.

Aims: While the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic may be contained through vaccination, transfusion of convalescent plasma (CCP) from individuals who recovered from COVID-19 (CCP) is considered an alternative treatment. We investigate if CCP transfusion in patients with severe respiratory failure increases plasma titres of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and improves clinical outcomes.

Methods: Patients with COVID-19 (n=34) were consented for CCP transfusion and serial blood draws pretransfusion and post-transfusion.

Background: Severity of illness is an important consideration in making the decision to transfuse as it is the sicker patient that often needs a red cell transfusion. Red blood cell (RBC) transfusions could potentially have direct effects and interact with presenting illness by contributing to pathologies such as multi-organ dysfunction and acute lung injury thus exerting a considerable impact on overall morbidity and mortality. In this study, we examine if transfusion is an independent predictor of mortality, or if outcomes are merely a result of the initial severity as predicted by Pediatric Risk of Mortality (PRISM) III, Pediatric Index of Mortality (PIM2), and day 1 Pediatric Logistic Organ Dysfunction (PELOD) scores.

The affinities of 13 angiotensin II antagonists for the AT1 subtype determined in vitro with tissue homogenates were shown not to correlate well with in vivo pharmacologic potency. The addition of human serum albumin to the in vitro assay to mimic in vivo plasma protein interactions reduced the measured affinity by reducing the effective free concentrations of antagonists, but the resulting affinities were not predictive of the in vivo effects. Using an in vivo radioligand competition assay, in which receptor occupancy is demonstrated via competitive blockade of the in vivo binding of [125I][Sar1,Ile8]angiotensin II to AT1 receptors in rat kidney cortex, we demonstrated that the in vivo pharmacologic potencies reflect receptor occupancy.
