Objective: The aim of this study was to provide insights into the addiction therapy concepts applied at the clinics of Hugo von Keyserlingk in Schwerin and Hubertus Windischmann in Brandenburg and to enable an understanding of the specific problems in this subsector of psychiatric care in the GDR.
Methods: Works published primarily in the GDR were identified, analyzed and contextualized, with expert interviews with von Keyserlingk and Windischmann complementing the findings.
Results: Initially limited approaches to alcoholism treatment after the Second World War gradually developed into more complex and diverse structures.
Nano-patterned magnetic materials have opened new venues for the investigation of strongly correlated phenomena including artificial spin-ice systems, geometric frustration, and magnetic monopoles, for technologically important applications such as reconfigurable ferromagnetism. With the advent of atomically thin 2D van der Waals (vdW) magnets, a pertinent question is whether such compounds could make their way into this realm where interactions can be tailored so that unconventional states of matter can be assessed. Here, it is shown that square islands of CrGeTe vdW ferromagnets distributed in a grid manifest antiferromagnetic correlations, essential to enable frustration resulting in an artificial spin-ice.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Whole lung transpulmonary chemoembolization using a combination of doxorubicin (DXO) and degradable starch microspheres (DSM-TPCE) might be a promising treatment option in soft tissue sarcoma. To pave the way for clinical studies, this study aimed to evaluate the short-term effects of DSM-TPCE with DXO using an ex vivo isolated lung perfusion (ILP) model.
Methods: Nine lung specimens retrieved from patients undergoing lobectomy underwent ex vivo ILP.
In metallic transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), which remain superconducting down to single-layer thickness, the critical temperature T decreases for Nb-based, and increases for Ta-based materials. This contradicting trend is puzzling, impeding the development of a unified theory. Here we study the thickness-evolution of superconducting tunneling spectra in TaSheterostructures.
