Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: 36 healthy and 125 patients with chronic and exacerbated periodontitis of primary (22 and 21), I (21) and II (20) degrees were examined.Indicators of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection (levels of diene conjugates and malonic dialdehyde, catalase activity and transferrin iron saturation, ceruloplasmin activity) in the blood serum were studied before, 6 and 12 months after the appointed treatment.
Objective: To determine the clinical reason(s) for screening women with varying degrees of risk for genital Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) in the Calgary region.
Design: Women aged 15 to 75 years were enrolled at various patient care locations. Pertinent risk factors for genital CT infection were recorded and a gynecological examination was performed.
The performance of BBL CHROMagar O157 (CHROM) versus that of sorbitol-MacConkey (SMAC) media for detection of Escherichia coli O157 was determined for a 3-month period. Results for 27/3,116 (0.9%) stool cultures were positive.

In April 1999, a microplate enzyme immunoassay (EIA) (ProSpecT G/C, Remel, Inc, Lenexa, Kan) for routine screening of all stool specimens was implemented.
