Carcinoma of the fallopian tube: Results of a multi-institutional retrospective analysis of 127 patients with evaluation of staging and prognostic factors.

The aim of this study was to determine the impact of prognostic factors in primary fallopian tube carcinoma (PFTC). All cases of PFTC diagnosed between 1990 and 2010 were retrieved from the files of 6 academic centers. The cases were staged according to a modification of the International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology staging system proposed by Alvarado-Cabrero et al (Gynecol Oncol 1999; 72: 367-379).

Transitions and transversions in Ki-ras gene in colorectal cancers in Mexican patients.

Aims & Background: An important increase in the incidence of colorectal cancers has been detected in the last 15 years in Mexico. This fact has been attributed to several causes, including the change in diet acquired from industrialized countries. Various groups have studied the mutational pattern of oncogenes, including Ki-ras gene, in colorectal cancers from different human populations.

Specific c-K-ras gene mutations as a tumor-response marker in locally advanced rectal cancer treated with preoperative chemoradiotherapy.

Background: Forty percent of patients with colorectal cancer develop mutations in the K-ras gene.

Objective: Our objective was to evaluate whether the presence of c-K-ras gene mutations is a useful tumor-response marker in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer treated with preoperative chemoradiotherapy.

Material And Methods: Thirty seven patients with locally advanced rectal cancer were treated with preoperative chemoradiotherapy.

Plasmacytoid myoepithelioma of the laryngeal region: a case report.

The first case of plasmacytoid myoepithelioma of the laryngeal region is presented. The tumor showed immunoreactivity for the S-100 protein, low molecular weight cytokeratin, and vimentin. Staining was negative with muscular actin and glial fibrillar acid protein.
