Traditional taxonomical methods, an appropriate Benthic Biotic Index incorporating the Taxonomical Sufficiency concept and Biological Traits Analyses, were applied concurrently to evaluate the long-term variations in the benthic ecology of subtidal zones of a Marine-Protected Area subjected to prevalent oil and gas industrial activities. Our evaluation spanned two comparable surveys conducted 9 years apart (2010 vs. 2019).

Forecasting urban water demand using different hybrid-based metaheuristic algorithms' inspire for extracting artificial neural network hyperparameters.

This research offers a novel methodology for quantifying water needs by assessing weather variables, applying a combination of data preprocessing approaches, and an artificial neural network (ANN) that integrates using a genetic algorithm enabled particle swarm optimisation (PSOGA) algorithm. The PSOGA performance was compared with different hybrid-based metaheuristic algorithms' behaviour, modified PSO, and PSO as benchmarking techniques. Based on the findings, it is possible to enhance the standard of initial data and select optimal predictions that drive urban water demand through effective data processing.

The use of formal language as a strong sign of verbal autistic children in diglossic communities: The case of Arabic.

The current study aimed to investigate whether the use of formal language (Modern Standard Arabic [MSA]) by young children in diglossic Arab communities offers diagnostic insights, especially for verbal autistic children and to further explore this phenomenon. We used a cohort study design, with 4-6-year-old fluent first language Arabic-speaking children attending Arabic Kindergartens in two representative Kuwait governates. Reported cases for MSA use were assessed via a computer-based structured language test and corroborated cases were further assessed for exposure to sources of MSA, verbal IQ, temperamental characteristics, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

A retrospective unicentric cohort study, evaluating the impact of tranexamic acid on autologous free flap tissue reconstruction.

Background: The use of tranexamic acid (TXA) has been shown to be effective in reducing haemorrhage and mortality in numerous surgical settings. However, its use in plastic surgery has been limited due to misconceptions related to increased thrombotic events in microsurgery.

Methods: We performed a retrospective single-centre cohort study including any patients who underwent autologous free flap tissue transfer at Lister Hospital, Stevenage, from 1 January 2016-20 April 2022.

Benthic community resilience in two differently impacted tropical estuaries: Taxonomic vs functional approaches.

Estuaries experience incessant modifications due to various stressors causing shifts in the benthic species community structure and ecosystem functioning. Two tropical estuaries along Northwest India, exposed to varied intensities of anthropogenic perturbations, were sampled seasonally for two consecutive years. Specific aims were to assess, compare and link the macroinvertebrate taxonomic and functional structures, to evaluate the resilience of estuarine benthic ecosystems by employing the multiple-trait approach and to identify major influencing environmental drivers for patterns discerned.
