Aligned biodegradable fibers incorporating bioactive glass particles are being highly investigated for tissue engineering applications. In this study, 5, 7 and 10 wt% melt-derived 1393B3 borate glass (BG) microparticles (average size: 3.15 µm) were incorporated in 83 wt% polycaprolactone (PCL) and 17 wt% gelatin (GEL) (83PCL/17GEL) solutions to produce aligned electrospun composite nanofiber mats.

In order to estimate its accuracy and stability a study of silicon and the alpha-beta quartz phase transition were performed. The data obtained demonstrated good agreement with previous studies using these three different techniques.

Echo planar imaging is characterized by scanning the 2D k-space after a single excitation. Different sampling patterns have been proposed. A technically feasible method uses a sinusoidal readout gradient resulting is measured data that does not sample k-space in an equidistant manner.

To evaluate the physiological thresholds of neuromuscular stimulation relevant to very fast NMR imaging studies that use gradient switching at frequencies of 1-2 kHz and a maximum magnetic field of up to 10 mT, a series of studies were done with human volunteers using an experimental echo planar gradient coil set. The threshold for induction of localized and momentary sensations in the human back and abdomen for 10 subjects is 60 T/s for sinusoidally oscillating magnetic fields at 1.27 kHz.
