Background: Some authors, either with anatomical studies or Doppler laser flowmetric investigations have shown the blood flow to the posterior midline of the anus to be potentially deficient. This relative local ischaemia might explain pathogenesis of anal fissure, which is often located posteriorly. The aim of this study was to record the exact position of the distal branches of the superior rectal artery during Doppler-guided haemorrhoidal artery ligation-rectoanal repair (HAL-RAR) procedures with special reference to posterior distribution of the arteries.

Our objectives were to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of intraoperative pancreatic HIFU ablation in a porcine model.
Methods: In a porcine model (N = 12), a single HIFU ablation was performed in either the body or tail of the pancreas, distant to superior mesenteric vessels.
A placebo-controlled multicenter study was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Actapulgite in infants and children with acute diarrhea. One hundred and thirteen patients, with a mean age of 28 months, were enrolled by pediatricians in the office. As recommended during acute diarrhea, the dosage of Actapulgite was doubled during the first three treatment days (2 to 4 packets a day according to the patient's weight), and reduced by half thereafter.

In normal fetuses up to eight weeks of gestation intestinal epithelial cells which were still undifferentiated were not immunoreactive and their calmodulin content was low. From eight weeks onwards there was a significant overall increase in calmodulin content concomitant with its segregation to the apical side of epithelial cells.
