Collectively playable wearable music: Practice-situated approaches to participatory relational inquiry.

We present two practice-situated participatory investigations using networked wearable sensors to develop movement-responsive collectively playable musical instruments: a series of four collocated workshops for expert dancers and a distance learning course in which students use wearable technology to enhance embodied learning and feelings of connectedness telematically. We reflect on our exploration of techniques for structuring ensemble improvisations augmented with bespoke digital musical instruments using aggregate statistical measures, such as variance of participants' physical orientation as an index of group intention. Participatory design exchanges top-down design methodologies with bottom-up approaches consulting actors' interests.

Potent immunostimulatory dendritic cells can be cultured in bulk from progenitors in normal infant and adult myasthenic human thymus.

Low density cells can readily be enriched from thymus tissue both of children undergoing cardiac surgery and of older patients with myasthenia gravis, and can be cryostored in bulk. When fresh or thawed cells are cultured with granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and stem cell factor with or without tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), they generate numerous cells with the characteristic ultrastructural, phenotypic and functional properties of dendritic cells. These proved to be very potent, both as stimulators of primary mixed leucocyte responses and as costimulators in oxidative mitogenesis.

[Comparative controlled study on the use of benznidazole, nifurtimox and placebo, in the chronic form of Chagas' disease, in a field area with interrupted transmission. I. Preliminary evaluation].

A controlled clinical trial was carried out to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and tolerance of nifurtimox and benznidazole in patients with chronic Chagas' disease. All patients had immunofluorescence and complement fixation reactions positives for T. cruzi antibodies and at least two xenodiagnoses positives in three performed before treatment, and they were submitted to clinical examinations, ECG and X-ray of the heart and esophagus.
