Importance: Access to perioperative breast surgery occupational therapy services remains limited in remote areas.
Objective: To assess the feasibility and acceptance of occupational therapy services using a "hub-and-spoke" telemedicine model.
Design: Prospective study using videoconferencing to connect the occupational therapist, located at the hub site, with the patient, located at the spoke site.
Background: Following a community health assessment the Brazos Valley Health Partnership (BVHP) organized to address fragmentation of services and local health needs. This regional partnership employs the fundamental principles of community-based participatory research, fostering an equitable partnership with the aim of building community capacity to address local health issues.
Objectives: This article describes changes in relationships as a result of capacity building efforts in a community-academic partnership.
Many years of work have been invested in the identification of potent and selective COX-2 inhibitors for the treatment of chronic inflammatory pain. One issue faced by workers is the balance between the lipophilicity required for potent enzyme inhibition and the physical properties necessary for drug absorption and distribution in vivo. Frequently approaches to reduce lipophilicity through introduction of polar functionality is hampered by highly challenging chemistry to prepare key molecules.

Several examples of the series, in addition to possessing favourable pharmacokinetic profiles and analgesic activity in vivo, have also demonstrated relatively high brain penetration in the rat compared with the clinically available compounds, which may ultimately prove beneficial in the treatment of pain.
