Is fasting a necessary preparation for abdominal ultrasound?

OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of fasting on the technical success of abdominal ultrasound examination. METHODS: In a randomized, prospective study, 150 patients for abdominal ultrasound were divided into two groups of 75 patients each with instructions to fast for six hours or have normal breakfast respectively. RESULT: The technical success of the abdominal ultrasound performed by radiologists blinded to the instruction did not differ significantly between the groups.

Dandy-Walker syndrome in association with neurofibromatosis in monozygotic twins.

Dandy-Walker syndrome in monozygotic twins is reported. The twins reported, presented with delayed development, big head and dysmorphic features. In addition, there were significant cafe-au-lait spots on the trunk and other minor features consistent with the diagnosis of neurofibromatosis.

Unilateral uterine artery embolization and systemic methotrexate therapy in cervical pregnancy.

The authors report a case of cervical pregnancy successfully treated with combined methods of uterine artery embolization and systemic methotrexate therapy. Unilateral selective embolization may play a role in preserving reproductive functions.
