Flooding causes severe yield losses worldwide, making it urgent to enhance crop tolerance to this stress. Since natural flooding often involves physical flow, we hypothesized that the effects of submergence on plants could change when combined with physical flow. In this study, we analyzed the growth and transcriptome of exposed to submergence or flooding with physical flow.

Metabolic surgery, including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), may improve hypertension (HTN) complicated by severe obesity; however, insufficient deliberation exists regarding the therapeutic effect of post-metabolic surgery on HTN. This study aimed to analyze the factors correlated with HTN remission and recurrence post-LSG in patients who have severe obesity, and to create a classification system to predict HTN remission and recurrence. Of the 102 patients who underwent LSG at Iwate Medical University Hospital between 2008 and 2020, 62 were enrolled in this study.

Article Synopsis
  • Laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) is challenging and requires skilled scopists, with this study being the first to evaluate their impact on surgical outcomes during the procedure.
  • The study included patients who underwent LLR over five years and categorized scopists into experts (10+ surgeries) and beginners (<10 surgeries) to analyze the effects of their skills on perioperative outcomes.
  • Results showed no baseline differences, but beginner scopists caused significantly longer interruptions during surgery due to errors, suggesting that their lack of experience can increase stress for surgeons and extend operation times.
